Columbine did have an armed guard. He did exchange shots. Kids were still killed. Having an armed guard is very unlikely to stop someone that uses ambush tactics to attack a group of people.

Neil Gardener, the officer at Columbine was NOT in the school at the time of the shooting, he was out in his car for lunch. The bad guys entered doors opposite of whre Gardner was. When he did get the call, he shot 4 times at one of the shooters from 60 yards! 60 yards? With probably a 9mm or even a .40 Cal.? At that range, he would have been better off throwing rocks. For those of you that have little knowledge of guns, it’s not like the old west movies you watch where they can pick someone off a mile away with a handgun. 9′s and 40′s have very limited range. And as far as your link goes, when you put stupid people in positions of importance, you’re going to get bad results. Thank God no one got shot by that unloaded gun though, cause we ALL know it’s the guns!

This incident happened more than 4 years ago, and the video clip is from a Channel 3 TV news report.. I would consider a TV station to be MSM (main stream media). Print versions also appeared.
Stories like this appear every day in the MSM. Not all of them turn out so well. Remember this horrific case just a little more than a month ago?

If you want to imitate Clint Eastwood, you better know what you’re doing. Perhaps they should require anybody who wants to own a gun to pass a gun safety course FIRST. After all, you have to pass your driving test before they give you a license. No difference.

Judging from the “thumbs downers” here, I guess my suggestion about gun owners being properly trained and licensed doesn’t “fit the agenda” of the right-wing gun-rights activists.
You’ll sleep better at night, knowing that whoever is going to handle that firearm under the bed knows what he or she is doing. If something horrible happens, I’ll guess we’ll see it on the MSM News. But, hey, it’s your life.

The only winners in this whole debacle are the gun manufacturers, the ammo manufacturers, the gun show organizers, the gun dealers and the NRA. They are raking in $MILLIONS off of your fear and paranoia. They couldn’t care less about YOU, your safety or your family’s safety, despite the incendiary rhetoric.
Gun-rights advocates need to quit whining about your “freedoms” being taken away. Look around you and see that you do — and will continue to — live in the greatest country in the world. If you’re honest, you’ll admit that you haven’t lost a darn thing. And you won’t, even if some sensible gun control measures are put in place.
