New commissioners also to be sworn in this morning

I think it’s very telling that only 23% of the library cards are held by people from outside the city of Worthington. Of those I’d bet the majority are people who live quite close to Worthington. The City of Worthington should at least share the cost of building a new library but should also be paying into the costs of operating the library. That’s how it works in many of the other counties such as Pipestone. If the library did draw people from outlying areas it’s likely to benefit Worthington as many of those people would shop and eat in Worthington as well. One good point that was brought up was that if the City of Worthington was to share the costs of building a new library the City should have input into the design of the library etc. Building a new library needs to be carefully considered not rushed into.
Hot debate. What do you think?
