Glen, if you are saying the rankings putting the Bison @ #50 and the Goghers @ #70 isn’t accurate you’d be wrong. That’s why the top 49 are FBS and the FCS Bison @50 are really #50. It is based on strength of schedule and we know the Gophs had about as tough a schedule as the Bison. That’s also why the bottom non D-1- 500 or so teams are where they are because their schedule strength is very weak compared to the top 49 FBS schools. The Bison @ #50 means they could beat the 75 FBS schools below them on a given day. Even if a teams offense was great in their D-3 league it isn’t enough to get them out of the lower ranked 500 or so schools.

You know what sours me.. a RRV University took a National Title but people like you and ron pull out the attacks at the first sign of their success, and then you wonder why people from NDSU pull stunts like that.. You want people to act dignified, be the better person, don’t go to their level.
btw I appreciate the comment on the inforum.
Here is to wishing UND making it to the F4..

There were other live games to cover when you have 30 bowl games to cover. There’s 1.3 billion Chinese that don’t care about the World Series, the Super Bowl & The Stanley Cup. So what? Some may care about the NBA finals and the World Cup.

It has nothing to do with important… it has to do with money. No one would argue that FBS football has way more money than FCS football, and generates more. The decision is as simple as that. Not which one is “better”. I for one do not like or follow FBS football as its play off system in a joke.

I agree Glen but isn’t about just the fact that there was another game they were committed to. How could they justify covering post game act. when the fans for another team wanted to see the whole game of their team.

Okay NDSU won the national championship. If the claim is the team represents ND and brings pride to the state then the team also represents ND and brings shame to the state with its 10 arrests during the season, one sex offender, several DUIs, fleeing police, 8 class 3 misdemeansors, unfortunately I could go on. They get an A on the field, they get an F for their off field activities.

Good thing neither Bohl nor Halstol are at Hamline University, where academics and ethics, unlike wins, are a priority. They suspended their basketball coach because a player punched a woman.

Here’s an example where the editors could just as well not allowed comments. Gene D, you have a way of making any notable local sports event seem dirty. Kick ‘emwhen they’re down and remind them of worse days when they’re up. NDSU had several 3 to 7 point wins this year and had a “roughing-the-punter” that almost ended their season a couple weeks ago. This is a huge story for football fans. Almost every comment here is from a non-football fan or jealous hockey fan. Others just simply can’t celebrate anything good accomplished by our young people. It’s embarrassing and shameful. Congratulations, North Dakota and NDSU. To local sports fans, it was something very special. A double dose of spankings to all here who disagree.

What on earth could NDSU or UND do to get some of you people to say something nice. Gene: you call it perspective and you’ll pound the “big fish, little pond” thing home every chance you get. I’m pretty sure you were part of this little pond. Why are you so unhappy with others’ successes. It’s actually a little bizaare, but I afree it’s a free country.

If I were a real UND student and found myself in the same mess as the hockey players, I’d demand the same process: Hakstol would adjudicate and I’d be suspended for one hockey game. Otherwise, you have some major equal protection issues.

Spearman, I think we should save our breath. I’ve been working on Gene, looking for an occasional positive post, but I’m not getting anywhere. You know, Mother Theresa did saintly work in India for all of her adult life, but Gene would be quick to mention that she was really, really short and kind of a plain dresser. Of course, it’s his right to share his “perspective.”

Congratulations NDSU on defending your title. You can say it is not a 1A title, but they did the best with their situation they could, and almost pulled off an undefeated season. Now, to those out there who are saying “bring on Alabama”, you are proving how little you know about college football. That is almost as asinine as those who feel Alabama could beat a lousy pro team. Congrats to NDSU, but let us be realistic here.

Congrats to ndsu, they had a great season and great semifinal and final wins. They dominated the second half with their defense against the high flying offense of sam houston state. Offense sells tickets but defense wins championships. This team is the prime example of what a strong running game and elite defense can do. this is a big deal for ndsu fans and rival fans should admire what ndsu has done in the past ten years. Opted up to a higher level and won back to back football titles in less than ten years!

Gene, you are right the fcs championship is not a big deal for the rest of the country. The title game tonight is not a big deal for most football fans. You will see the mediocre ratings for this game when compared to the nfl playoff tv ratings. But in the south east you will have extremly high ratings because college football is king down there, just like hockey is king in northern mn/ eastern north dakota, and bison football is king for a large chunk of northdakotans. You can be real but the fans will cut you down. Just let them enjoy this one. They earned it.

Ndsu has beat a big twelve school and a big ten school in the past three years. There are many big conference schools they can compete with but they never will be even close to the top notch caliber of ncaa football. The reason is if you watch big ten football or even big twelve you see the bottom feeders grinding out 2-3 conference wins while the big dogs play primetime games against prime time opponents and tromp the little guys when they play during the day. The scholarship filed has been narrower to allow smaller schools to compete, but they still can not close the gap of the big time dollars michigan oregon bama usc fl and notre dame. But for me football is football and I wtched 2 quality teams play one heck of a game on Saturday afternoon.

Ron, don’t leave out MSP as hockey heaven. Every public and many parochial schools have hockey and there are least 130+ public funded ice sheets. That’s about 70 metro HS with varsity and JV teams.
