While I do agree that farming is bigger buisness than hunting the editors ignore some important ideas.
1) How many farmers stay in hotels?
2) How many farmers are eating in our bars, fast food joints, resturants, etc three meals a day during the fall?
3) Is there an influx of thousands of farmers buying gas, snacks, ammo, sporting goods from our stores each fall?
My point being that hunters are keeping some of our small towns and small buisnesses alive. Look at the transformation of rural America over the past 20 years as farms have gotten bigger. Is that change for the better? I’d say no. The same transformation will occur to our small towns with fewer hunters and I’d bet many won’t exist 10 years from now.
