Wind Tax-Credit Extension Seen Driving Growth, Trade Group Says
January 2, 2013 at 3:17 pm in Grand Forks Herald
The production tax credit was due to expire at the end of 2012 and the extension was part of yesterday’s passage of the bill to avert the so-called fiscal cliff that would have imposed income tax increases for most U.S. workers. The bill will cover all wind projects that start construction in 2013. Continue Reading

Damned shame they extended a wasteful, useless program to artificially prop-up a failing industry.

Shurkey, how are we going to save the planet for our grandchildren if we don’t subsidize alternative energy systems? We just recorded the 334 mth. of consecutive high average worldwide temps. due to human produced CO2. Get your head out of the sand.

Even without pointing to the obvious (that still isn’t excepted by some) about global warming…there’s a simple comparison. So called “Clean Burning Coal” that does send pollution in the air we end up getting back with rain or wind energy that never pollutes. Not a tough comparison.
Did you ever go to places like LA, Denver, or most any big city back in the 70′s before they really started to force companies to clean up their pollution? I remember sitting up in the foothills outside Denver and up in the hills above LA and seeing a dark haze looming over each city. There’s still some haze today, but by comparison it’s really cleaned up.
I think a lot of people who don’t see the need for something like wind energy (Even if it needs subsidies) don’t have any idea of the crap industry still puts in the air…the power industry more than any others because humans have such a huge demand on energy. Hell…Going over the “Skyway” bridge at night through Chicago I can see lights all around for miles and miles….just the street lights take a huge amount of energy before you add all the rest

TB, they used to say that in LA when a kid’s autopsy was done, at say 15, the lungs would look like the kid had smoked 4 packs a day just from breathing LA air. I can remember in the 70s in LA feeling my hair at 10 AM and thinking it felt like I hadn’t washed it for 3 days instead of that morning. They even had to ban backyard grilling in LA to deal with the problem.
