Seems strange to me that when we are in the top of voter turnout, we would want to digress to what other states are doing (i.e. early voting). I don’t support this and the argument that 32 other states are doing it makes no sense when we are better than those states. Voting is a great responsibility and privilege. Election Day should be regarded as a valuable part of our “busy lives”, not a nuisance as I feel Katie suggests by encouraging this any time voting.

We need sweeping campaign reform legislation to stop the influx of money that goes to both parties coffers from special interest groups. It occurs to me that the more money the campaign has, the better the chances of that person being elected. Then when they take office they’re beholding to whomever got them there. I’m weary of the negative campaign ads that lead voters away from the specifics of the issues that are at hand instead of informing us what the candidate is actually going to do. We need a strong 3rd party that represents the average middle class American with some basic common sense approaches and solutions to the real problems that face our country before the middle class is gone. Then maybe all those eligible voters that don’t turn out, would cast their ballot on election day. Today’s politics is a circus run by professional media consultants that groom and train the candidates to look and sound good on camera. They probably take acting lessons too.
