Like Forwhatitsworth, I ate the candy cigs as a child and never smoked a cigarette, even tho I also pretended to really smoke. I liked the taste of the candy!

This does not surprise me at all, my son was disciplined at his elementary school for play acting to his friends the act of smoking a twig during recess time. Call home to the parents and the whole bit…..wow.

Ridiculous!!! I ate truckloads of the candy cigs and never became a smoker, even though both of my parents smoked. My son never held or ate a candy cig but still he picked up the smoking habit, even though neither of his parents smoke. Smoking seems to more of a peer pressure thing as opposed to eating candy, regardless of how it is shaped.

This is nuts ! If you take this logic to it’s logical conclusion, there is no end to the number of things we should ban or wouldn’t allow kids to do. Does a kid shooting a BB gun make them a future violent gun criminal ? Does playing with GI Joe make you a war monger in the making ? How about handing out condoms in schools to minor students….does that make them more likely to have sex before they would normally ? How about violent video games (some of them are absolutely disgusting in their level of violence), do they create violent tendancies in those susceptible to such things ? How about kids playing with toy race cars speeding around a track….does that make them more likely to be agressive future drivers who will endanger others on the road ? How about banning Mountain Dew to kids since consumption of those empty calories can lead to obesity and other health problems.
There is no end to this trend unfortunately…..but anything related to smoking these days seems to be the current favorite target of those who seek to control more and more aspects of our lives by telling us we’re incapable of making our own adult choices and monitoring our own kids behavior in this particular case. If only it where so simple that banning things of all sorts would create good healthy behavior. Which has more refined sugar and/or artery clogging saturated fat….a box of candy cigarettes or a package of Twinkies or bottle of Mountain Dew ?

These days? The witchhunt against smokers has been going on since the late 70s. This nonsense won’t stop until the money runs out because that’s all it was ever about. These nanny groups have to prove they’re actually doing something or they don’t get any more grant money to continue doing stupid things.

We should probably ban cold air so kids don’t pretend to smoke outside.

The kids can buy toy guns, see violence and sex in movies they watch and play graphically violent video games.. but not have candy cigarettes..Oh heavens no!! we certainly can’t let them have that, they’re too impressionable!! …kinda shows how messed up this society is.
and there is no quotes to go with post on candy cigarettes…nobody but these do gooders ever gave it a second thought apparently..

Don’t you know that candy is bad for you? They should be banning all candy. We all have to pay when you get heart disease. All diets should be strictly enforced by the cops.
Hot debate. What do you think?

The next thing on the do-gooders agenda is firing squads for parking violations!

I suppose the manufacturers of candy cigarettes will soon have to print graphic pictures of rotten teeth on the packages and be taxed heavily.

I ate candy cigarettes all the time when I was a kid and look how I turned out. Those kids with democrat parents were always trying to light them though.

Years ago I found a picture of my mom when she was about nineteen. In one hand she was holding a beer can. In the other hand she had a cigarette. Now she always told us kids that she never smoked and never drank alcohol. When I showed the photo to her she told me the beer can was empty and she found the cigarette butt on the ground. She tried to convince me she was only posing as a hood. The photo was staged according to her. Yeah right.

Oh, Good Grief. I’m sure the little ninny that ratted the store out is a raging, smug lib.
