I recall standing in a queue to get into Mr Pete’s on W Superior St one Sat night when Durning was in town to shoot Far North and he and Sam Shepherd walked past us. My earliest recollection of him in film was a made for TV movie Studs Lonigan – that was my first thought when I looked at him….

My wife was a bartender at Fitgers and he came in regularly her fondest recollection was that he always knew her by name when he walked in..
