Your Dec. 20 editorial proves that this paper, along with the media in general, deserves some of the blame for the Newtown massacre.

Steve,
Thank you for your comments. Refreshing to see someone with the salt to say what needs to be said. The so-called progressive liberal movement that has been sweeping our country is without a doubt the most evil social attack ever in our nations history. I would cast blame not partly, but mostly on the media.
By media I mean the music industry, Hollywood, newspapers, and magazines. They all set the tone for morals and behavior in this country. They tell us how to dress, how to talk and how to behave. A very large majority of adults and an even bigger percentage of our youth succumb daily to this immoral secular humanistic drivel. Entertainment by way of cheating spouses, teenage sex, drinking and drugs, violence on a level never imagined for kids. Baby mommas, baby daddies, no commitments, no consequences. A constant onslaught of the media’s version of social norms. I get physically sick to my stomach when I think of it. Notice they get a complete pass on this gun violence debate. Guess who gives out the pass? Yeah, the media.
The problem is we cannot counter this highly aggressive pressure from the left because our churches across this country have by and large become completely impotent. The good Christian folks mostly sit and wring their hands and wonder how it got this way. Complete wimps for the most part. That’s right wimpy Christians. Keep God in the trunk like a spare tire. Pull him out on Sundays or when I get into trouble and really need some help. You either believe or you don’t.
People need to stand up and speak for what is good and right. Liberals don’t use logic. They argue with cunning rhetoric, smooth talk and use tactics like guilt and shame to coerce not to convince. For the most part it is working. Our countrymen are like lemmings headed for the cliff.
Who remembers the old films and pictures of Hitler speaking to crowds of hundreds of thousands? The majority of the entire country of Germany was behind him. Millions. They listened and followed without even a moment to think for themselves. Today in Germany it is a huge embarrassment for their entire country. The swastika and Nazi salute are illegal today in Germany. Holocaust denial will get you sent to prison. The question is how could such a complete brainwashing occur?
A similar psychological phenomenon has been taking place in our country but much more slow and insidious. Sadly, it’s even found it’s way into our churches.
You cannot convince those now, who have been taken captive by this new age thought (spirit actually), anymore than you could have persuaded Germany, in the 30′s that Hitler was an evil man. If however, you do not at least speak up in opposition, there could be an argument made that your silence was consent. I want it on the record that I spoke out.
How about the rest of you good folks sitting in the pews on Sunday morning. How shall we interpret your deafening silence?
Steve, God bless.
As Always,
Red
