Weak animal protection laws landed North Dakota on a list noting the five “best” states to be an animal abuser, according to an animal rights organization. Continue Reading

Rankings like these are so bogus. Maybe we’ve not needed these super tough laws that the overzealous animal rights people push because we’ve been raised better and with higher morals than the out of control states most of these types of people are from. With the way the press jumps on these things you’d expect to be reading about this stuff everyday. But you don’t and the reason is most North Dakotans still have respect of life. All life. Unfortunately, as people from areas around the country where these values aren’t held as high as our parents expected because of us, we now probably need to toughen ours as well. But when we do, it’ll be done by the people we elect and in a manner that bodes well for our people. Not based on what some out of state overzealous people who don’t have a clue about rural life want to dictate to us.

Your comment really encapsulates the North Dakota attitude that all the bad in the world comes from out of state where “those kinds of people” originate. We, on the other hand, are perfect. Only when pure North Dakota morals get corrupted do we have to actually have reasonable laws to protect animals.

This is the same mindset that views anyone not born in ND, not matter how long they’ve been here and how many taxes they’ve paid, as foreigners.
