Does this mean the city council wants to close the guard base? Or just a shipyard in Norfolk Va. that they dont care about? This is another example of why the council needs to stick to what they were voted to do, run the city. A little irritated that we paid them for their time to discuss, debate, and vote on issues like these.

that’s the way to vote Duluth city council. Just when the air guard base is about to start up its active association which means money coming in for food and housing for example. What about the traditionals that are there a weekend a month or two weeks a year for training.

Here we have another group voicing there opinions without reflecting upon the opinions of their constituents. The city council would be better served by handling the affairs of the city and not trying to be players in the national scope. Maybe if the military does get cut the money should be used to fixed the national debt instead of cities feeling they should be entitled to what is being cut.

Just imagine a Duluth tax base had city councils of today & past tried to retain the college students of UMD/UWS/CSS/Fond du Lac/LSC by being pro-active in attracting & retaining businesses, vs. trying to secure every federal welfare dollar.
Imagine a gentrified Central Hillside that’s actually homes, not rentals. Heck, just think about what the true taxable rates of the old Harborview/”Hillside Homes” projects are. Or a fire department whose expenses are in-line with cities of its size/scope. Perhaps a city council that wasn’t bought & paid for.
But then again I suppose we can imagine the Easter Bunny & Bigfoot having a nice romantic tryst.

Notice the council didn’t say cut military taxes and give the money back to the taxpayer, no its just more socialism redistribute the money to the welfare crowd, get evan more people on the govt dole to ensure election victories for future socialist democrats.

And why do we always have to follow what Minneapolis is doing? Read the news from around there, prositution, gangs, robberies, cops being shot at. Is this what we want. Be a leader, not a follower…………….

Predictably, our foreign policy and military experts on the city council make fools of themselves again…

Note to Garry Krause: the Coast Guard is not now or never was a part of the military, they belong to DHS.

Let see. The new DFL dislikes the military, neuters the police and wants to disarm US citizens. Eliminate the protectors and make the citizens vulnerable, I don’t get it.

…at the same time the non-military government agencies stocked up on over 1 billion (yes billion) rounds of hollow point ammunition this past summer. Kind of makes you wonder.

Dock their pay every time they waste it on issues not under their purview. I’m tired of overly self-important politicians wasting tax payer monies on grand standing an agenda that has nothing to do with their office.
