So we’re allowed to comment on this inane topic, yet not on the Alerus story nor OmDahl’s op/ed.

If you have a question about what stories are open to comment, you should really address them to the Grand Forks Herald.
All the paper’s contact information can be found here: http://www.grandforksherald.com/event/contact/

It’s clear what stories are open to comment, there’s an access link. There was not none earlier to the Omdahl article, just as this is none now to the Alerus. What i would really like to know is what goes into the decision. You open up articles on actors’ lives and the like, while closing to news stories. Sometimes Jacobs’, Dennis’, and Omdahl’s op/eds are open, sometimes they aren’t. Same with letters to the editor. Maybe just a page explaining it all would be informational.

No, “I” don’t open or close comments. That’s what I’m trying to clarify here. The Grand Forks Herald has its own policy for deciding what is open to comment and what is not. Each paper makes its own decisions on this subject; some do not allow any comments (Forum does not, for example) and some allow comments on nearly everything.
If you wish to know what a paper’s policy is, please email and ask that paper. Posting something here will not guarantee that they see it, but emailing or calling them will, and they will answer you.
It’s a perfectly reasonable question, and I think you will get an answer if you send an email or call. I do not think you will get an answer if you continue to post on topics that involve tea and hair care, although I could certainly be wrong.
I hope you find an answer to your questions and I’m trying to help you do so by referring you to the best sources.

I really do not know who you are, nor what you do. I am aware Jack Zalinsky closed all Forum articles to comments, mainly due to the fact he hates any disagreement with his opinion. My question was simply what goes into opening an article to comment? It’s clear some generate response, others don’t. Seems the Heral peopl don’ pay any attention to that.

I don’t know what goes into opening an article to comment.
Please email the Herald and ask them. They will answer.
