1. I’d go if i wasnt working, but I’m not sure how many rap fans there are in GF
2. How far has your career fallen to be playing GF?

is GF that far behind that the ONLY rap/hip hop/R&B people we can get are artists with no new albums in over a decade?!?! I like Tone and all, but seriously, Coolio? Tone Loc? I know ND is years behind the rest of the country, this just solidifies it…irritating! I remember Alerus trying for Janet Jackson and 112 in the past, and they cancelled both…yes, we are highly country, and highly behind…

It’s not that we’re behind, we’re just too small a market for the Big Names to want to deal with. It’s not worth their time to come here when they could be selling out shows in New York or California or what-have-you.

Grand Forks, the capital of North Dakota culture. But at least the Ho Bar seems to be able to do what the Alerus can’t: put on a concert.

Grand forks isn’t behind. These guys have blown through their savings and are now resorting to small venue concerts just to pay the bills and extend that last minute of fame that they still have left.

I cannot believe I am saying this, but there are some concerts you simply do not want. I spent 5 years working at the only trauma center in Tucson. There were certain nights you did not want to be there: the first home football game of the season for UA, Mexican Independence Day (Cinco de Mayo is a white holiday, not brown) and big name rap concerts.
I remember they almost shut Snoop Dogg down because the fights and stabbings began before the doors were even open. I think we got three stabbings and two gunshot wounds from the concert grounds itself. That is not counting all the normal knife and gun club activity that happened regardless of what else was going on.
The part that made me angry is I wanted to go see Snoop but couldn’t get the night off. Maybe it was a blessing in disguise.
