the column is correct but in this era of increasing number of double income couples (we are one of those), the decision as to how and when to start social security is much more complicated. When I checked with the SS office in three different cities as a test (as well as a letter to the IRS), I got four completely different answers from exactly the same set of data. Unless and until the SS office gets consistent, you may want to consult a specialist on social security. If you want to test it yourself, you can also call one of the larger SS offices at separate times and probably get a different person who will give you a different answer.
