Sounds like the cattle got into some ergot. That’s why the vets said the feed should be checked. They can even get it grazing. It would make sense if some of the neighbors had the same sort of problem more or less since an area tends to get the conditions to have a problem. Or they buy feed at the same place.
Not saying for sure that’s what it is, but the stated symptoms fit. Very little else causes those.
Depending on exactly what type of ergot it is, they would also be expected to have sore feet or lose parts of the legs, also weight loss, and milk production could go way down. Not all ergot is the same and so you get somewhat different symptoms.

The vets who treated couldn’t be reached for comment before publishing the article and you let her throw out wild accusations without hearing from her experts, her own vets? What kind of shoddy reporting is that? Guess there was a drop dead deadline that just had to be met, forget those journalistic principles!
She couldn’t remember the state vet talking to her? She wants to move to Montana but having a hard time selling her place?
Sounds like it might be wolves causing the problems! Too many times!
GOT BAKKEN? Some do some don’t, some rejoice some….well I’ll let you fill in the rest? Right Mr. “I can’t stand the Bakken”!
