From my soapbox it looks like Tom Landwehr already approves of heavy metal mining in the Ely area while other stakeholders are unconvinced it can be done with minimal environmental impact. Based on the track record of these out of state mining corporations shouldn’t we first be asking for an environmental assessment including how heavy metal mining will impact one of the State’s biggest revenue generators ie tourism in that area? DNT where’s the story on current heavy metal mining in the state to give us some idea of historical impacts?
