Local view: Obama has a choice to move toward dictatorship or liberty
December 5, 2012 at 6:00 pm in Duluth News Tribune
President Obama occupies a place unique in all history. He has in his hands the power to destroy or to save the greatest nation on Earth while leaving a legacy for himself either as one of history’s greatest statesmen or as one of history’s greatest failures.

This was really a hoot…maybe Obama should just cowtail to those same nutty factions that been nothing but obstructionists? Seriously? You really think that was the message from this last election?
I would offer that gee, maybe the GOP needs to get on board…and start to compromise. This last election didn’t prove that Obama needs to bend to the GOP…to even float that premise shows how totally out of touch with reality conservatives are….it showed that if the GOP doesn’t start to bend and stop with their nutty agenda’s and falsehoods they’re going to be history ….so your premise is all azzbackwards.
I think the GOP is so clueless and rudderless right now and they’ve spent the entire last 4 years doing nothing but telling lies and attacking Obama and trying to blame him for all their failed policies and agendas and while also doing all they can to prevent progress being made that it’s become a learned behavior pattern for them now. It’s already started…totally clueless to what’s going on they’re turning on each other…it’s all they know how to do…it’s the blame game, finger pointing, this faction of GOP’s fault, no it’s this factions fault…they’re running around in circles trying to figure who to blame for their own misguided nonsense…
The only real choice here is NOT Obama’s but the GOP’s and the choice is will they survive or continue on same path to their own demise? It looks like at moment they’re just going to continue to push their hubris on America….but if don’t change, they’re going to lose the house also in two years.
Since the New Deal, Republicans have been on the wrong side of every issue of concern to ordinary Americans; Social Security, medicare, equal rights, civil liberties, church- state separation, womans rights, consumer issues and safety, public education, reproductive freedom, national health care, labor issues, gun policy, campaign-finance reform, the environment, the economy and tax fairness. No political party could remain so consistently wrong by accident.
The only rational conclusion is that, despite their cynical “family values” propaganda, the Republican Party is a criminal conspiracy to betray the interests of the American people.
What the last election showed is…more Americans are starting to get that….

The greatest ‘legitimate’ concern of the Republicans at the moment is protecting the richest 2% from a rate increase in their income taxes. All that ‘legitimate’ rape, and ‘legitimate’ war on coal, marriage, religion, ect. were wars of smokescreen. The biggest ‘legitimate’ concern of the conservatives is to protect the rich.
Thanks once again for the northland conservatives who seem to be waiting in line to give further evidence that their party is, ‘legitimately clueless’.

so he can be a great leader (i.e. bend to conservative wish lists) or be a failure (vote liberal) eh?? lol wow nice article buddy…i refer people to the study finding that the average fox news viewer’s IQ is 80 points compared to the 100 point national average. We all know the only way this thing gets solved is by compromise…you seem to write that compromise would be even worse than his other two options. And seriously how many times are you going to try to paint Obama as having a or working towards a dictatorship…its getting rather old and tired and whats the point now he has already been elected or are you just that peeved still that he did lol. I refer to republicans claims during the Walker recall attempt…..He won the election get over it and quit whining.

Just to add to my earlier post and confirmation of it. The Minnesota Republican party according to now Minority Leader Hann…”Got our butts kicked” in Minnesota and lost complete control of both house and senate. He also brilliantly claimed that whinning isn’t working. Too bad they didn’t figure that out 4 years ago because all they’ve done is not offer solutions but whine about Obama’s solutions. Republican tea nut leader Demint announced this week is shirking his responibilities and leaving the senate and ex Florida Gov Christi is switching to a Democrat. The GOP is trying to kick out the tea nuts after welcoming them into party as well as welcoming the far right Christian let’s social engineer the country faction and now both a claiming they deserve the voice they got….The Republican party is spinning out of control and in total dissaray and still so clueless that Hann and Boehner are both vowing that the GOP will continue to be essentially as big as obstructionists that they can…..they just don’t get it….that with the nutty social agenda’s and propaganda BS is what ticked off most Americans…
and you’re here saying it’s up to Obama to compromise????….sigh…it’s not a question anymore whether Republicans live in a fantasyland or not, it’s merely a question of where in that domain they reside.
