“Andersen suggested an admission fee of $5 per car which would entitle all occupants of the car to visit all tourist sites in Jamestown. She said collecting that fee from 50,000 cars per year would result in $250,000. Andersen said that figure assumed half the amount of traffic that currently travels through the Frontier Village.”

I completely agree with Andersen on this. I think it’s a great idea. Five bucks isn’t too much to ask.
Hot debate. What do you think?

I think the $5 admission fee would be the biggest mistake Tourism could make in Jamestown. The Frontier Village is in shambles and Fort Seward is a flagpole,a monument and flat grassland. If you want people to pay to get in, make it worth the money! Is there any future palns for reconstructing some of the buildings at Fort Seward? How about actually getting some money to the Village for badly needed repairs? If you want to make a decision like charging for admission, look at some facts before you start throwing out ideas that are not worth the $5 you are suggesting.

A five dollar admission fee would be the perfect way to fund those improvements!
Allow anyone that lives in Stutsman county in free and charge everyone else.

the point the mayor was trying to make was that BCTF needed to come up with other revenue sources besides tax dollars to fund their operation. She used the admission fee as an example. There are plenty of other options for BCTF to tap into and it is the responsibility of BCTF to explore those options. There is no reason why BCTF needs to rely so much on tax payer dollars to run.
