East Grand Forks council cuts tax revenue, pool funding
December 4, 2012 at 4:25 pm in Grand Forks Herald
In an odd twist, the East Grand Forks City Council lowered its 2012 tax levy by 1 percent Tuesday rather than the 4 percent increase that members unofficially had settled on a week earlier. Continue Reading

“Even with a 4% increase by the city, EGF residents were facing a decline in their property tax statements.”
Not true … my proposed property tax statement shows an increase of 5. 8% for 2013.

You need to invest in burnt out wrecked cars that rest on cinder blocks for your front yard.

devil, I thought the same thing when I looked at my statement at first. Then I realized that is what was proposed earlier. If you look at the statement closely you will see that it says “proposed”.

First of all … I don’t appreciate your tone. I would think the wife of our newest council member would project a kinder attitude. Second … I went back ten years and looked at the difference of the proposed amount and the actual tax. It varies very little … usually only a few dollars … often it has been right on the money. Now I can’t say this is the case for everyone but this is what my records show.
In the future if you want to sell the public on raising money for the pool you need to work on your people skills. You don’t have to get so worked up over comments on these threads. In case you haven’t noticed most of us are friends.

Quote, ” Olstad added that it’s probably a year or two before a decision will be made on whether to the pool or build new.”
Appears to be a typo here but I could care less about that since I make typos all the time on my phone. However, I’m guessing he is saying a year or two before they remodel or build a new pool. Interesting how there is no consideration that the pool might have to close. Congrats to the EGF tax payers you’re going to pay for something it is going to cost millions but you just don’t know how many millions yet

Simply not true. Apparently you have never been to city council work sessions or meetings. There are other avenues to funding a pool than raising taxes. “None”, you keep saying you don’t care about this issue, but you continue to comment on it. Obviously you do care, so you should come to a meeting and get the correct information before giving your “two cents”.
