NFL: Peterson runs wild, but Packers hold on to beat Vikings
December 2, 2012 at 8:55 am in Duluth News Tribune
Mason Crosby kicked three field goals and the Packers overcame a 210-yard rushing performance by Adrian Peterson as Green Bay beat the Minnesota Vikings 23-14 on Sunday at Lambeau Field. Continue Reading

Choke now, choke later…. they are the Vikings.

The quarterback’s terrible
the defence is lame
this god-awful team won’t win
one more game!
So get rid of Ponder
and to the season as well
to be a Vikes fan
is a special dark hell!

Ponder MUST go. He didn’t even have a completed pass until deep in the 4th quarter. And WHY didn’t they send out Webb when they could see where things were going? Along with Ponder, get rid of Frazier and Musgrave too! AP is a stellar running back and if he was with any other team in the NFL, that team would be winning games left and right. I can’t believe AP hasn’t tried to leave. And for god sakes, start Webb for the remaining 4 games! We have nothing to lose and everything to gain by doing this. Enough already!
And now to add insult to injury, Frazier says he will be starting Ponder again next week! When we play against the Bears? OMG! You have GOT to be kidding! On an off note, it will be great to see AP tear up at the Pro Bowl! I can hardly wait!

Get your information straight. He hadn’t completed a pass to a WIDE RECEIVER until the 4th quarter.
Regardless, he needs to either turn the corner or ride the pine for a while.

As for Percy Harvin, it seems clear to me that he is so disgusted that he doesn’t even want to play. At least not for the Vikings. Why else is he staying out so long on an injury? In a way, I don’t blame him.

Percy was angry at Punder weeks ago because Punder kept throwing it to him even with guys coming full speed, and it was clear he would get utterly clobbered. He probably blames Punder for his injury, and I agree. Punder most go before he gets someone else hurt. But Frazier won’t pull him, so Frazier must go.
There is nothing wrong with our defense that a little offense wouldn’t cure.

Why else is he staying out so long for a high ankle sprain?
Well, it can’t be that he is still injured, no not a chance.
Per Rotoworld: “ESPN 1500 Twin Cities reports Percy Harvin’s Week 9 left ankle injury was a Grade 3 sprain, which means a complete ligament tear.
The injury usually comes with a 4-6 week timetable, and Harvin is now in his fifth week of recovery. “

Dorkus….yea, today they placed Harvin on injured reserve….thus, ending the season for Harvin! Is a shame, as he was one of the few bright spots for the Vikes this year!

Woops. On my 11:43 PM post, I meant remaining 3 games, not 4. Hit the wrong key.

I swear Minnesota gets its coaches from the same school. Here’s why we need a new coach: “We can win with the personnel that we have,” Frazier said. “We’ve shown that we can. We just have to do a few things better. There’s no reason to panic.”

As a long time fan I see several problems.
1) I’ll start with the defense. The Vikings had 4 in the box the entire game and had no rush. Roger’s weakness is throwing pics and incompletions under pressure. This is a coaching problem. I’d rather give a couple long plays a game rather than 10+ yards every other play.
2) Offense. This isn’t all Ponder’s fault. The problem is the receiving corp. Even though they all have single coverage (teams put 7-8 in the box trying to stop Peterson), they don’t get open. This team has the ability to win games with only 100 yards passing. With that said, the most athletic running QB I’ve ever seen is Webb. He fits perfectly into a run offense. The Vikes could run some type of hybrid of the Wildcat, with Webb, Peterson and Harvin in or near the backfield. Teams would have to guess every play who going to get the ball….which will make a potential 300+ running yards a game. As for passing, or TE’s have shown they can get open. Jarius Wright, a speedster that draw double coverage was not put in the game until the last play yesterday.
The Vikes need new coaching all around. They don’t think outside the box at all, they don’t play their most athletic players and their defensive play calling is horrible.
As for Ponder? When the wide open player presents itself, his anxiety appears to win over. He has potential, but not with this coaching staff.

1) I disagree. The defense should be sainted for keeping the offense in almost every game almost till the end. You have to expect 10 yds every other play against GB, and the offense needs to play accordingly. It is unrealistic to expect the D to be dominating 60 minutes when they know they will lose anyway, and they are on the field 2/3 of the game.
2) The only promise that Plinder shows is that maybe, someday, if we wait long enough, and if everything else falls into place, he might be average. The receiving corp is far from stellar, but you can’t catch balls that aren’t thrown or are 5 yards ahead/behind/above/below. If Plonder gets anxious when his receiver is OPEN, he isn’t NFL material. And he cant get the ball in when they aren’t open, which most NFL QBs are able to do at least sometimes.
3) I agree the coaching is bad but offensive coaching is way worse than defensive. Ponder has lost most of our games all by himself, with Musgrave’s help.

As I mentioned before, with Webb at QB in a run-centered offense, we might have the offense on the field 35 minutes a game. I think our defense is average or better, but they first can’t be out there 2/3 of the game as you said, and second, any QB (well, except Ponder maybe) will pick you to pieces if you have all day. Rushing 4 on 5 or 6 isn’t going to give any pressure.
I thought Ponder was a better QB as a rookie. With time, I used to see him scan the field for at least 3 receivers. Not any anymore….he looks at the primary and runs. It appears to me the coaches are trying to mold him into a style that may not work for him.

Worst officiated game I’ve seen in awhile, for both sides. I thought Ed Hochuli was supposed to be the best???
