Firings lead to uproar

Residents here were angry Thursday at the firing of two staff members at the Service Dogs for America training facility in Jud. They also voiced concerns that the dog training center, which specializes in service dogs for people with disabilities, would move from Jud.

Our daughter was placed with a Service Dog At Great Plains Assistance Dog Foundation in Jud. It was an excellent experience. It has been life saving and transforming for our entire family. The reason their partnership had so much success is because of the years of experience Mitch Doyle had training service dogs and Join Brandenburg had dealing with clients. These are not entry level jobs. It is going to be difficult if not impossible to find someone who will relocate to Jud with enough experience to train the current dogs and provide continued educational services to the previous clients. We were shocked to hear of the “transition”. The amount of work these women did, the amount of hours they put in mucking out kennels, feeding dogs and caring for the dogs and families. It is a outright shame. These firing brings heartbreaking changes and irreparable damage to the town of Jud and Service Dogs for America.

I have seen first hand what these dogs do to help people. Putting out more dogs doesnt mean they are going to be better. These women love what they do and what everyone/everydog to be a perfect fit. That board needs to go. Come one people of Jud get involved, or you should have got involved. Sounds like it may be too late. Come on people take a stand and get involved.

It always comes down to “the board knows best”. Well, that’s rarely true. Boards in situations like these are poorly suited to deal with these situations. The people on them just seem to think they know something, but clearly they know nothing and are worthless individuals.
As far as I’m concerned, those who were fired could have slapped each board member in the face and still not have been fired. It’s a pretty specific job that nobody on the board can do or find a replacement for. Respect.

I agree. Who are they going to find to replace them and are as qualified as the 2 that they let go? My guess is nobody.
