The election is almost a month behind us and thoughts have turned to the work ahead in the 2013 legislative session. For the first time in two decades, Democrats will lead both bodies of the Legislature as well as the governor’s office. Folks say I must be excited about the possibilities. I tell them I am sobered by the challenges. Minnesota again is facing a significant fiscal challenge, and there was a lesson to be learned on Nov. 6 about legislative overreach.
