Hispanics favor Dems; didn’t decide election
November 28, 2012 at 6:00 pm in The Dickinson Press
After moments of panic in the immediate aftermath of Mitt Romney’s defeat, some Republicans and conservatives are regaining their equilibrium on the issue of what the GOP should do about immigration and the Hispanic vote. Continue Reading

Two words describe what Hispanics like, regardless of their Catholic upbringing !

More than you do Daphne by a long shot! Go ask your Hispanic aquantices why they vote Democrat and they will tell you it’s the free stuff the government gives them. Aside from a certain ethnic group, they are the next biggest taker of government hand outs. Check it out yourself before you call someone else ignorant, yours is showing!
But I applaud your gumption to challenge me, most of the cowards out there just use their thumbs which must be their IQ level.
Have a nice day and thank a soldier for your right of free speech……you’re welcome!
GOT BAKKEN? In spades baby!

“A certain ethnic group”, what, you didn’t want to throw out any racial slurs??
Mark Twain said, “It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool, then to open one’s mouth and remove all doubt”. Thank you for opening your mouth and removing the doubt!
I guess you must live in that unknown section of North Dakota that has a high density Hispanic population to have SO many Hispanic acquaintances. Notice I didn’t use the word “friends”, anyone who speaks so ignorantly about a certain ethnic group the way you do, obviously has no interest in befriending anyone of that particular cultural background. You have no idea how many Hispanic friends I have either, so I doubt you are qualified to say you know more Hispanic people than I do “by a long shot”. Anyways, my Hispanic friends and I have much better things to talk about than who voted which way, and why. Amazing that you ASSume that because they are Hispanic, that they all vote Democrat. Maybe the ones who do vote Democrat, vote that way because they don’t like being stereotyped by their ethnic background by the rightie Repubs like yourself?
I know your type, you spew your politics at the workplace or the coffee shop or whichever public place you desire, as if people really care to hear it, and those who dare speak up against you are vilified. You probably display political cartoons proudly at work and have an “Obama Sucks” bumper sticker on your vehicle. I laugh at you when you drive be me!
People just sit back and let you spout your rhetoric and don’t bother to say anything, they let you get it out of your system and then they go about their business. They don’t bother to speak up, because they know you are set in your ways and won’t even try to change your mind. So in secret they just, “put their thumb down” to let you know what they really think of you.
The Repubs love to talk about this oh so vague term “free stuff”. Just because the Repubs Golden Boy Romney got totally dominated in the election, he had to have his sour grape speech the next day and mention how the election was lost due to all the “free stuff” that was promised. I still haven’t got my free stuff, and I voted Obama (I am not Hispanic, by the way)! I guess if Obama lost, he would have had to come out and complained that the election was lost because all the Romney voters wanted was “free money”, AKA tax breaks and loopholes for big business and for Mitt and his fellow richie riches. Good thing old Karl Rove wasn’t able to buy Ohio this time around. Oh, or Florida, or Virginia, or Wisconsin, or Colorado…
Side note, sounds like you are a Veteran, so Thank you for your service! Don’t ASSume that I am not grateful. I also say thank you to my great-grandfather, grandfather, great uncle, uncle, father, and my cousin who all also have served. They served so everyone in this country could enjoy their freedoms, even “certain ethnic groups”.

Way to go Daphne! I liked your response. Articulate and well thought. I commend you!
I’m only working here in ND! I’ve actually traveled and worked all over the world and have lived a lot of places you could only find on a map with some help. As for knowing Hispanics, I not only know tons but have lived in Panama for three years and learned the language quite well. I also speak German, French, Italian and some African dialects like Zaire’s Lingala or the river language. I have traveled most of my life from the time my father was a career soldier of 22 years in the army.
I’m not a racist, but I am prejudiced against many things and people. Few people even understand the difference between being a racist and being prejudiced! Do you?
My dearest friend, Jim Wiley is black. We go way back! We have traveled extensively together taking wonderful photos. If you have read any of my other comments or looked at my profile, you would know more than you think you gathered from one short comment.
I speak my peace! If you think I’m ignorant, that’s your choice and opinion! I have stated before in other comments that I am not a Republican, Independent, Democrat, Libertarian, Socialist or a Communist, but a person who votes his morality, his conscience and what this country has stood for for over 200 years. I fought in two wars in the sixties, the DR and Vietnam and spent thirteen months in Madigan Hospital as a result of too many wounds too count. I volunteered, RA, and would have stayed longer but when they bring you home in a basket, it’s not like it is today. Four generations, starting with my grandfather in WW1, my father in WW2, and my youngest in the first Gulf War.
I can’t stand what our country has turned into….the biggest entitlement programs and no way to pay for them. Obama is the biggest enabler of all time. The last Bush wasn’t much better, or worse, depending on your point of view,
You are a Democrat and that’s fine with me. You stated you voted for Obama? Why? What had he done previously in his short political life to garner so many votes the second time around? The first time was a novelty for a lot of people. Didn’t want to be seen as racist or maybe it was to expunge their white guilt….I don’t care, but the second time? Come on..seriously. Are you better off today than say before he got elected the first time? Bush and Paulson started this country on its was to the cellar by passing the TARP fiasco followed by the Stimulus with Obama!
I have been a small business person in Washington State, Alaska, Oregon, Montana and now ND, don’t have an office where people sit around like you described. Don’t go to bars and never had a bumper sticker on anything. A widower of 21 years and lost the only woman I ever loved! We had been together since Vietnam took its toll on me and raised four good kids!
I didn’t question your ethics or anything like that. I did question your knowledge of why Latinos vote the way they do. I stay away from any form of stereotyping, but when a class of people stereotype themselves, then it’s fair game?
Do you take free stuff from the government? Do you object to people getting free stuff for nothing? Rush Limbaugh was actually the person who started the “free stuff” mantra by saying, ‘ how do you run against Santa clause?’ Know your subject before you accuse someone of something!
I despise public sector unions. I’m not real fond of private sector unions either, but I have been a member of the IUOE for over 43 years now!
So, I’ll get off my soap box and let you fume about this! Have a good weekend and a good life? Can you read, thank a teacher, my wife was one!
Sincerely,
Dennis Conner
