Officials hear public input on what fans want in a new Vikings stadium
November 27, 2012 at 6:00 pm in Duluth News Tribune
Dave Zbaracki’s family has had season tickets for Minnesota Vikings games since the team began play 51 years ago. That means 30 years of watching home games at the now outdated Metrodome.

I hope enough money is reserved for a statue honoring those who bear the burden of this edifice. I suggest a cheap, cement figure of a weary, puzzled, forlorn taxpayer with out-turned pockets, supinated hands, and a defeated look on his face.

That’s good. Also let us remember with a statue the feckless Republican legislature that committed scarce and precious tax dollars to this boondoggle.
You wouldn’t be able to see the expression on his face. His head would be inserted up a certain part of his anatomy.
Hot debate. What do you think?

I hope Governor Dayton holds to his opposed position on the seat license fee floated to the press by the Wilfs. Imagine getting half the stadium paid by Miinnesota taxpayers and then asking ticket holders to pay even more. That’s why the Wilfs are billionaires.

The seat license is a voluntary payment by those who choose to accept the fee. What I wish Dayton had had the courage to oppose is the taxpayer contribution to this project which we have no option to decline.

There should be a gigantic seat tax but all the revenue should be accounted towards the state’s portion of the bill, not Zigmund’s.

6-5 is a winning record and it has only been two years since we visited the NFC Championship game. Prior to that we were the NFC north champions for a good 4 straight years.
That IS a winning team. Now if we could only win the Super Bowl…

And how many Superbowls have we gone to recently? How many have we won?

How cute, you defending a crap-tastic team. This state has no money, wants to tax the rich, but gives the rich a new playground. Only in ‘merica folks.

Nessopotamian, that pretty much sums up my feelings too. How any of the same people who want to “tax the rich” can at the very same time vote for providing hundreds of millions of dollars to build a playground for billionaire team owners….baffles me.
I guess those that voted for it really do believe in “trickle down economics” after all. That’s about the only argument I can think of that would make any sense to make…..if in fact you really believe in trickle down.

At least the new stadium will provide some revenue to the state. Most other projects cannot say the same.

Can you provide any proof to that statement? It might provide revenue, but the cost to build it will outweigh any potential revenues.

From 1999 to 2009( the season Vikes played Saints in Conference Championship) the Vikings were division champs 3 times( 2000, 2008, 2009). That’s hardly 4 straight years.

I stand corrected.
But it is not like we are the Lions of 3 years ago.

It is time that all NFL teams be allowed to go the route the NFL allowed for Green Bay. Allow the team to become owned by the shareholders / and State to which they belong. OR….Green Bay should not be allowed in the NFL. Want a new stadium, players, money…it should come from the people that support through ownership, and the Billionare owners BOOTED!!!! And I mean BOOTED OUT!!!!
