I would agree but……. having heard the coach in interviews, the scoring is his philosophy to let the other team score so his team has the ball more often (no defense) and is used in every game they play, and this is not just a one time event (if the author had bothered to check). Second, during the teammate interviews, they wanted to do it for their teammate, irrespective of any record, and help him score as much as he could during the game. I will grant that playing no defense to ensure offense is offensive to me but the young man was encouraged both by his coach and his teammates to try it. Laying the blame entirely on the young man is wrong. As it is, I suspect the shooting percentage for the game was disappointing to the individual but his shooting percentage in the second half was outstanding regardless of where he might be playing basketball.
