Sgt. Brown. You and the Dickinson Police Department are to be warmly commended for your tolerance, patience and humanity for dealing with these folks like the human beings they are!
A lot of folks are dealing with hard times right now in our country. But charity begins with “us”, not the collective “us” that is the hard working tax payers! Fifty or sixty years ago, the “us” were churches and just good neighbors helping out those striving to survive hard times. Odd jobs were given to them when there really wasn’t a ‘job’ there to start with.
Our “Greatest Generation”, those that are vanishing quickly as their time on this earth expires, were the “makers” of not only jobs, but our heritage that the younger generation of today, including mine, have chosen to forsake for the conivence of letting the “government” handle it. How sad, how very sad!
Yes, a lot of homeless choose that way of life. Cities like San Francisco, Portland and Seattle cater to them, giving them shelters built at tax payer expense, even their own apartments in Seattle for the drunks to actually drink in. A lot of these so-called homeless sit at freeway off ramps and collect literally hundreds of dollars a day! They could easily afford their own place, but they live off the “guilt” of others and will refuse food if you give it to them and certainly refuse work if you offer it to them!
Such is the mentality of today’s generations……entitlement! They all think someone else owes them not just something, but everything. The day this country wakes up and quits giving OPM, I often pronounce it ‘opium’ to those who think they are entitled and addicted to it, is the day the “Greatest Generation” will stop rolling over in their graves and again be proud of their progeny.
Eventually OPM , other people’s money, will run out and then the “takers” will all be homeless as the “makers” will have had enough and quit! Where IS John Galt?
