All of the people (myself included) are fed up with the mismanagement of our republic at the federal level. Massive amounts of money (yet again) spent by all of the special interests guarantee the public will not have a voice in the federal government which is supposed to be “of the people, by the people, and for the people.” I think everyone who signed one of the petitions would agree with the sentiment — we want our government back.

I keep reading about Texas going blue in 2016, and I still don’t get it. I assume that the left thinks just because Latino’s are a minority in this country that they’ll vote blue, but that’s not the case.
I keep hearing.. “Texas is going blue”, “Texas had 3.3 million people that voted for Obama.”
Here’s the facts:
In 2008, 3,521,164 people in Texas voted for President Obama. (43.8%)
In 2008, 4,467,748 people in Texas voted for Senator McCain. (55.5%)
In 2012, 3,294,440 people in Texas voted for President Obama. (41.4%)
In 2012, 4,555,799 people in Texas voted for Mitt Romney (57.2%)
Explain how that trend shows Texas “going blue” ? If anything, it shows people went more Red..

Well I voted Libertarian. I would not vote for either the democrat or republican because voting for the “lesser of two evils” is what put America into the lousy condition we find ourselves in now. I think more and more people will abandon the democrats and republicans in disgust in the coming elections…

Secession, interposition, and nullification are as American as apple pie. The republic was formed by secession …

Why does the article say those signing the Texas petition are supposedly Texans. If you spend just a tiny bit of time looking you can see the addresses given are overwhelmingly not from Texas. Same sort of thing true of all the other succession petitions.
They didn’t get media attention last election but they’ve become more popular now.
Let’s be real, no real move to leave the Union, though some individuals are moving to Canada to enjoy universal health care working in the oil fields.

i think that all of the red states that want to succeed should be allowed to do so. Those remaining would be in much better shape. The reality is that most of the red states are takers. They receive more of our tax dollars from the federal government than they send in. Look at farm subsidies other wise known as bail out money. They are the unhealthiest states, the least educated states, and the poorest states. Go ahead and succeed red states. You will not be missed. BTW- for every dollar that ND sends to the Federal government they get $1.74 back from the government.
