Very interesting article. It’s like I never left North Dakota. I transferred down here, to Pleasanton, from the Dickinson area, over a year ago and the similarities are alike. People from all over the country are making their way to South Texas to seek employment. Along with that, the traffic is horrible, housing is impossible to find, unless you want to commute from San Antonio, and of course, crime is a big issue.
On the other hand, people here are really friendly. They are helpful when needing any assistance in anything you ask about. Most welcome the activity that is going on. It’s made a huge economical impact in Pleasanton. New hotels, restaurants, apartments, and other small businesses starting up. The most common complaint is the traffic. And I totally agree.
The move here wasn’t too bad. The weather is hot in the summer months, and the humidity at times, unbearable! This time of the year, you can’t beat it.
At times, I do miss the folks back up north. But then I look around, and feel l like I never left home with all what is going on here. Same thing, different place.
