Residents in Douglas County have noticed something missing stars in the nighttime sky.

“Light pollution?” Really? This is what we worry about in a world filled with hate, immorality, homelessness, hunger, disease, and war? How much time, energy, money, and resources are going to be wasted addressing this non-issue?
Hot debate. What do you think?

Non-issue? Phylis Kahn, a state legislator introduced a bill to control street lights and similar types of lighting. This was after a failed attempt at stopping construction of a football field at a church school. A coincidence that she lives in the neighborhood and kids having fun on a Friday night event would disturb her peace in the park like streets of HER historical preserved island home in downtown Minneapolis. Why run for office if you can’t look out for yourself?

It’s about time someone addressed this issue. Thank you for the article. Now, let’s see if we can do something about it. All outdoor signage (including billboards) should have down-lights only. I look forward to seeing more of the night sky in the future.

Am I the only one to notice the irony of the light pollution article followed by an article entitled “Time to Light Up Alexandria?”
