““We the people of North Carolina will support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic. We ask the President to recognize our commitment to the endurance of our extraordinary union.”
The domestic enemies of the Constitution include the three branches of Government: Executive, Legislative, and Judicial.
How are we going to fight THAT?

Why do we have to fight our own government to keep what is rightfully ours, as spelled out in the Constitution? Patriot Act anyone? Police militarized swat teams equipped military war equipment. Spy drones flying over our country?
People need to read the Constitution with comprehension, then ask themselves why so many of the Rights therein doesn’t seem to apply to us any more.

Agree in principle — but a couple of notes:
1. We are not “one nation under god.” That bit was added by an unholy coalition of McCarthyites and the Knights of Columbus, and supported by politicians who pandered to religion and conveniently forgot their pledge to defend the COTUS. Currently, the religious activists on the SCOTUS are also aiding and abetting this assault on the COTUS.
2. Many of our representatives have put pledges to the likes of Grover Norquist over their pledges to We The People. I’m of the opinion that those folks should not be holding public office.

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.–That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, –That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.”
There is more than enough evidence that our government has become “destructive of these ends”. The question is, what are “we the people” going to do about it?

Ignoring the hyperbole, here’s some suggestions:
- Become educated on the issues (go by evidence over ideology).
- Become actively involved as a citizen (petition your representatives, speak up at meetings, etc.).
- Work to support those representatives who are doing a good job.
- Vote out those who are not.
Finally, even though there are problems, recognize that the USA is a beacon of good government compared to most.
