Election confounds state Republicans, delights Democrats

ST. PAUL Dan Severson stood in disbelief watching election returns.
The former Republican state representative and two-time statewide candidate watched election night as Fox News called the presidential race for Democratic President Barack Obama, and his mood got worse from there. Continue Reading

“Dan Severson stood in disbelief watching election returns. The former Republican state representative and two-time statewide candidate….“It’s immoral,” he said at the Minnesota Republican Party post-election gathering in a Bloomington hotel. “I’m in a state of disbelief. If that’s what Minnesota wants to do, I’m not a Minnesotan for long.””
Mr. Severson thinks that voting “immoral”,but it wasn’t. It was democracy at work. Good luck to him when he leaves this state as he said he isn’t a Minnesotan for long. Must not have loved his state enough to say around and change things the way he would like it. Reminds me of “i’m taking my ball and going home” mentality that my 5 year old sometimes uses.

He didn’t make himself look any smarter with these comments. The whole story is filled with excuses and attempts to place blame elsewhere. Clueless.
Did you know that the Republicans at the Romney Victory Rally in Boston cut the audio to the huge TV monitors when the election results showed that Obama had won? They left the TVs on, but with no sound, and brought on the live bands to play! Amazing! Reminiscent of the Titanic? Or North Korea? Or China? You can’t make this stuff up!
Maybe Mr. Severson could pass through Nobles County on his way out of state to pick up some other disgruntled voters.

Our former Governor Tim Pawlenty had a similar view, and now a lobbyist for a bank.
Isn’t it ironic that the fiscally “responsible” party is cash strapped?
If there is one thing the Republicans can take away from this election is this:
“What I think what hurt the Republicans was a focus on dividing and the tear-it-apart attitude,”
The days of elderly biggoted white guys ruling the vote isn’t going to work anymore.
The Republicans will have to come out of their bubble wrapped alter reality and deal with the truth or their party will become extinct. I can see the regulars of this publication still try to divide and tear apart. Keep it up. We become stronger.
