Graphic graffiti artist hits several downtown Farmington buildings

Saturday may have started out as a nice day, but it got worse quickly for Kay and Elsworth Hoeppner when they discovered the graffiti on their new $3,500 fence. Continue Reading

I believe you do a disservice to victums of Graffiti. To refer to the desicration of the Hoeppners fence as being the work of a GRAFFITI ARTIST is beyond belief. Call it what it was, the work of a VANDAL who should be prosicuted as a FELON. Political Correctness has simply gone to far.

First off you misspelled ‘prosecuted’. Secondly you think that some punk kid who made a stupid choice should have the rest of their life ruined by a felony? You do realize that vandalism is a MISDEMEANOR. See the state laws. “Minnesota 3rd Degree Criminal Damage to Property
This is the most common property destruction offense in Minnesota, for the lowest amount of damage, typically for damage with repair or replacement costs under $1000. If you intentionally cause damage to another person’s property without their consent you could be charged with 3rd degree criminal damage to property.
This misdemeanor offense is punishable by up to one year or a fine of not more than $3,000, or both.”
And before you go and say he damaged $3000 of someone’s property he didn’t. He damaged maybe one or two panels of this fence. If caught he’ll get fined, probably do some community service and move along with his life.
I think you’re blowing this whole thing out of proportion.
Even with the truck that got spraypainted… it’s a $6 fix. Non-acetone nail polish remover takes off spraypaint and leaves the clearcoat completely unharmed.
Put down your torch and pitchfork. So some petty crime happened in our town. It happens everywhere. There’s no need to turn this whole thing into a witch hunt or blow it sky high.
