Once again I am proud of the people in Minnesota who realize there should never be laws against same sex couples rights, as well as the right to marry if they are truly happy and want to spend their life with someone. Once again religion mostly plays a roll in politicians decisions to try and create laws that discriminate and strip the rights of people who have a different life style. Once we go down this road where does it end? The people of Minnesota are fed up with these types of amendments created simply to do an end around on our Constitution. The people have spoken, and many are tired of those who can’t seperate Church and State!

Again Bob times have changed and peoples attitudes have changed, and the people decided this was not a good idea or a reason to add an amendment to the Constitution which is denying some people of having the same rights simply because they want to marry someone of the same sex. This also puts a financial burden on tax payers and I am glad we voted it down.

Well now that is youur opinion Barney, but it appears many don’t agree with your views. Many of us should be proud that we are not a part of denying someone their rights. No one is asking you or anyone else to change your life style and this country is not based on one religion or anyone culture! America has been changing for decades, and as much as someone or some group can’t accept the change the majority has spoken.

Barney and Jimmy I think we need to be clear on what was the vote of the people. The question voted on was not how we define marriage or what rights another has, the question was should we ammend our State Constitution, and to that the majority said no.
I also think there is a lot of discussion that needs to happen before any mention should be made about the legistlature deciding what is marriage and what isn’t. Now is not the time to get off track in the other direction by a social issue, when we are faced with mounting debt and other problems that effect the whole of society. I think there are many of us who voted NO last Tuesday who still define marriage as between a man and a woman, yet we also know that the Constitution is not the document for which this issue should be defined.

The vote is merely a way to see how much support the Legislators would get trying to impose a law on marriage. This is a way of letting them know they will not get any support and that would end up costing the state more money in appeals and legal issues. What people are asking for is to just leave other people alone, and let them live their lives as they see fit and are happy with! In no way will it force others how to live the way they see fit when same sex marriage becomes law.
