Obama powers to re-election despite weak economy
November 6, 2012 at 7:21 pm in Worthington Daily Globe
WASHINGTON (AP) President Barack Obama rolled to re-election Tuesday night, vanquishing former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and winning four more years in office despite a weak economy that plagued his first term and put a crimp in the middle class dreams of millions. Continue Reading

Every race has a winner and a loser. In this case it’s the USA that loses! This isn’t sour grapes because my side lost, but rather an honest look at the last 4 years and what we can expect in the next 4…..higher taxes, gas prices, food prices, health co$ts ect.
Will the Bush blaming now stop? This is now obama’s economy, starting with the stock market down near 300 points. Ellamay, you nailed it!
Scary times ahead.

I was going to attach this to one of deano’s rants today about WHY people voted for President Obama. I instead decided it’s best to include it here, alongside Fox News’ ‘most-educated states voted for Obama’ article. The timing could not be more perfect.
This is an open letter to the Tea Party and those who think like they do. It explains, in a very clear – and often very blunt – way what went wrong and why Romney lost. It is filled with facts and uncomfortable truths and is certain to raise the blood pressure of many who still can’t handle either.

Nice article, eastender.
Republicans are going to have to step out if their bubble and face the truth someday if they are ever going to make progress.
They will have to be all inclusive instead of being a small intollerant white man club otherwise …well, it don’t need to be said.

I have voted way more democrat then republican in my time. I have no real liking of either party. As far as what the republicans need to do to get back on track is not that hard to figure out. They just need a candidate like obama. That being an excellent liar! Someone that can tell everyone what they want to hear (that’s the hope part), then once elected do only what he wants or just the opposite. I understand all politicians lie but obama is the king and his actions have been devastating to the country. That’s why I’m so against him. So the republicans simply need a bigger liar!!

You did….Mit Flop changed EVERY position he had as Governor. His campaign was constantly walking back what he had said the prior day.
“So the republicans simply need a bigger liar!!”….Ya stick with that plan…see how well it will work for you. Don’t change your platform or reach out to other demographics, but just lie MORE. Great plan.

It worked for the democrats. I do believe the GOP needs to attract more votes but just educating all people on what they’re really voting for and forgetting the hope and change smoke screen would go a long ways there. Although by the time Obama is done this time all the people will probably realize there is no hope in the hope and change smoke screen anyway including you, maybe. Judging form the poll on the globe today it looks like not so many agree with your view.

The next presidential election is a l-o-n-g 4 years off. Have you already decided who the Republican candidate will be in 2016? How about focusing on the here and now?!
I’m amazed at how many people are already making rash assumptions about how the next 4 years will go. What a colossal waste of time. You’ve already decided it’s going to be a failure?
What everyone SHOULD be doing is to encourage our lawmakers to work together to make things better. The fatal mistake the Republicans made in the last 4 years was to be obsessed with being the party of “no”, continually blocking anything the President proposed, so he would be a “one term President”. They were banking on his failure, which they were hoping to cause. Well, that strategy backfired and they wasted a lot of time and energy. And the country suffered for it.
I’m not surprised by the Globe poll results. Nor should you be. The Globe readership demographic is heavily Republican, and that was reflected in the local election results. It’s hardly a reflection of the country’s mood.

Why don’t you pass along your suggestions for a 2016 Republican victory directly to the Republican National Committee?
I’m sure they’ll have no trouble finding some candidates who have a propensity for lying — and who can further perfect their skills in the next four years.
Start with these: Paul Ryan (for his marathon race finish time). Dick Cheney (for his weapons of mass destruction). Todd Akin (for his lies about abortion and pregnancy). Michele Bachmann (for everything she says). Karl Rove (for his win-at-any-cost SuperPACs). Donald Trump (birther conspiracy). Marco Rubio (for his lies about his parents’ emigration to the US).
Gee, those are just the ones that come immediately to mind. I’m sure there are more. Can anybody else help complete the 2016 Republican ticket? This is fun!

“I’m sure they’ll have no trouble finding some candidates who have a propensity for lying — and who can further perfect their skills in the next four years.”— You’ve just helped re-elect one of the biggest lying politicians in rcent history! Benghazi. Fast & Furious. Planned Parenthood providing mammograms. The sequester he says he didn’t approve of. His budget will cut $ Trillion over 10 years. If you like your healthcare plan, you can keep it. and on, and on, and on. Yet you fail to acknowledge HIS constant lies?
