Letter: DL City Council member takes stand against marriage amendment

I could write a letter opposing the marriage amendment for many different reasons. I believe that a constitution is an instrument to protect the rights of the populace, not to take them away. That alone would make me vote NO. I believe that to deny a right that so many of us take for granted to a group of people that are “different” than we are is discrimination, and that alone would make me vote “no”. Continue Reading

Thank you Madalyn, for sharing your personal story. I remember admiring your sons talents, which he shared through church. The timing of this doesn’t affect me – I’ve already voted NO. However, I find it more that suspect that there wasn’t space for such a personal and moving letter prior to election. Really makes you go “hmmm”.

I’m sure the lord can’t wait to judge you judgmental types, as well as those who hang on small, meaningless bits of scripture, instead of the big-picture stuff about love and kindness — all those petty people who’ve done their best to foul up a pretty decent world. Seriously, you’re no different than the Pharisees that Jesus decried and denounced.
And I’m sure the lord can’t wait to welcome into his arms the loving mothers, loving fathers, loving sons, loving daughters, loving spouses, loving partners, and all those who try to step beyond small-minded, by-the-book nonsense and treat everyone like Jesus asked.
