WILLMAR All the talk about voter photo identification may have some new voters confused about what is actually required when they go to the polls on Tuesday.

VOTE NO, this is an end around attempt to surpress and make it a bit difficult for the poor, elderly, and disabled to vote and place undo hardship on those who would probably otherwise vote Democratic. The so called fraud this Republican sponsered bill claims is merely nonsense and again blown out of proportion. Just as the people Republicans accuse of not standing on their own two feet and sucking dry the social programs that are available to those in need! The truth is healthcare companies, doctors and other healthcare providers committed billions in healthcare fraud. Name a candidate who was elected due to voter fraud? Of course the Bush election had nothing to do with bad ID’s as it did suspected voting machine tampering. The voting requirements now are pretty similar so what is the point? When you see the deed look for the motive, the Republican party has been dying the past decade. They are losing support and voters, and for them it is one way to try and even the odds. This party is always crying about big government being in peoples lives, yet the issues they propose bring more gov and state into peoples lives. Of course when they need big gov to bailout their businesses such as Romney did with Bain then the gov is fine!

I have no unscrupulous labor boss machine … I have never been a part of a union … I am still voting NO …
here’s a question … have any of you ever thought about how absentee ballots are done in a nursing home??? I know of two staunch ‘R’ party people who take those absentee ballots to the nursing homes to ‘help’ the elderly fill them out … it’s amazing how you can ‘suggest’ who someone can vote for … I’m just saying! IS THIS FRAUD???

my source is BOTH of these people telling me how they take absentee ballots to our local nursing home and ‘help’ these elderly fill them out … it is directly from the horses mouth … I was stunned … and the one person once explained to me how President Obama had a Muslim Christmas tree in the White House … the pictures proved it … I was speechless at first but then explained a few things to her … she soon understood that she was wrong …

wow Johnb … so you are calling me a liar because these 2 people told me in a conversation about their good deeds on absentee ballots at the local nursing home … was I suppose to go to some official and say ‘hey this is wonky’ … these are people I know … I said there were only two … I do not know if democrats have done this, none that I have spoken to have mentioned in a conversation about doing this, only one … call me a liar if you want, but you don’t know me … I am offended at your comments! is everyone a liar that just doesn’t agree with you! mine is first hand knowledge … I would never report friends, I have no idea if they did something wrong … it just made me go hmmmmmmm … so take this and do with it what you want!

I said I DID NOT KNOW IF THEY DID ANYTHING WRONG … I said hmmmmmmmm … it is pretty easy to confuse an elderly person in a nursing home … one could simply suggest “do you want to vote for evil *insert name* here” or (would you like to vote for nice guy here *insert name*) … I don’t know if they did or not … I just said it was wonky and made me go hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
Regarding felons … I believe most of them probably still will have a valid MN drivers license. My understanding, and it is MY UNDERSTANDING, is that many simply do not know if they can or can not vote. It is not a simple thing!
When we suggest an AMENDMENT TO OUR CONSTITUTION that can very well limit thousands of peoples right to vote over what is in reality a very few, yes I have a problem with it.
Let’s get back to those elderly in the nursing home … my guess is you will effectively take away their right to vote … do you really think that is a good thing??? SUPPRESSING ONE PERSON’S RIGHT TO VOTE IS WRONG! You may call me partisan all you want, but I think you also need to look at your partisan self in the mirror!

So John these numbers you gave for felons could have voted either way plus do you know how many millions vote in America and what that percentage is?

John the figures you gave are indictive of a small percentage of fraud that no matter how you try and prevent, there will always be some who can get around the laws, or requirements. Jesse gave a valid point of ways someone can get around the voting laws and its a good point well taken.

John where ever you got your figures you forgot one thing, voter information has to match up in reference to voting, and if these things don’t match up the votes are red flagged and not counted. People like yourself have tried to make wild claims of voter fraud when Obama was elected and the facts and evidence don’t support it one bit. besides Obama won by wide margin. Funny when Republicans barely won in 2000 no one seemed concerned, but after Obama wins all of a sudden like everything else Republicans wanted amendments and change. They have asked Obama for his birth certificate, now his transcripts, and have made every attempt to belittle and undermine the President while continuing to come up with ways to justify their vindictiveness. They attacked immigration even though the Republican spent 8yrs in the W.H doing little about it. All I can say through all this the President remains committed and does not stoop to the level of some Republicans or acknowledges their baseless and endless attempts to make him appear a failure. President Obama truly has Class!

I like Franken … I was skeptical at first, but I personally feel he has done a very good job. He is one man who supports the military and veterans … look at the bills he has introduced and passed. I don’t think I can say a negative thing about him … now those in the “R” party I’m sure can …

well Mr. johnb .. you said it all in your post! It is what YOU believe … you are under the presumption that they were illegal … quite apparently YOU WERE WRONG and they were legal. They counted, therefore they are legal … case closed … or is this like President Obama’s birth certificate and it will never go away?

Did anyone realize that this voter ID proposal will cost tax payers millions of dollars especailly when it is challenged with the courts. Anytime there are amendments added to the Constitution they end up in court, and the cost is huge with appeals and more apeals. The proposal needs to be sent back and overhauled since it affects Veterans, the elderly and the disabled. The biggest threat in voter fraud actually is those over seeing it and the machines. Human error or delibrate altering or misplacment of voting ballots still can present problems. We have yet to see any candidate elected because of voter fraud and the most questionable election was Bush due to some machine irregularities or delibrate altering. Hopefully this measure is voted down, tax payers cannot afford another fribilous attempt to amend the Constitution.

The main important issue is Obama has been re-elected now maybe we can get some things done! Hopefully these Republican attempts at trying to amend part of the constitution will stop because it is getting them no where. This is one of the reasons they lost the election they are too busy creating more issue and wasting more time instead of supporting the policies that will take this country in a postive direction. Now that Mitt lost maybe he can bring us those 12M jobs he claimed he could create?

I guess some of the right don’t want to hear about Romney’s job plan now that he didn’t get elected. I am merely calling him out to produce these jobs which would not only be a shot in the arm for Republicans but would help the economy.

I’m guessing both sides on this issue are pretty happy it was defeated .. in jest I made the comment of ‘what would happen if the Democrats take over’ and then they get to make the rules … dang they did take over and I’m sure most of you who voted NO would not want them to make the rules! Just saying!
