Dalrymple officials say petition effort ‘politically motivated’
November 2, 2012 at 2:30 am in Grand Forks Herald
A petition seeking a Dunn County grand jury investigation of Gov. Jack Dalrymple has “baseless” accusations and is politically motivated, his campaign office said Thursday. Continue Reading

Pretty serious allegations. On the face of it, it looks to clearly be a violation of the law.
I suppose we will see everything done to derail this train. Accusations it’s just politics. Trying to say if he didn’t change his decision it’s not bribery and you can bet they are pouring over those signatures on that petition to try and get it declared invalid.
But with or without the petition it’s pretty clear something is going on. Dalrymple needs his day in court to clear his name, or not.

Thank you for the links. I really appreciate it. I want to remind readers once again that North Dakota ranked 43rd in the Nation’s Corruption Risk Card. The state scored an F in political financing, legislative accountability, lobbying disclosure, ethics enforcement agencies, state civil service management, state pension fund management, state insurance commissions, and redistricting. And…they got a D in executive accountability. 43rd…way too low. People make cracks about New Jersey being corrupt. Guess what…they are number 1. They have the highest score, the lowest risk of governmental corruption.

Well, if you had actually paid any attention at all, you’d know this isn’t a Democrat show. Many involved have been life long Republicans.
Should a law apply to everyone, even the governor, or should we just sling mud when someone raises allegations?

This was brought forward by Paul Sorum, Republican big-shot mover and shaker, now a VERY CONSERVATIVE independent.
If this is political (it’s not), it is an internal Republican struggle. AND, the Republican insiders like Sorum would know all the Republicans’ dirty little secrets.

Excellent idea. As opposed to convicting someone here, even without charges brought against him. Excellent.
Hot debate. What do you think?

Ask a serious question and no one seems to be able to answer it for me. I really do want the answer because I do not know it.

Glen: I don’t think this site is friendly to that type of logic. In less than one hour, you got 6 dislikes. In my 9:51 comment, I stated, “there is a left fringe group who thinks legal campaign contributions are fine for Democrats, but criminal for Republicans.” Most common sense Democrats and Republicans are fine with legal contributions. Kevin Cramer’s opponent is not among them, by the way.

I had hoped that there’d be at least one article on how much both candidates for governor pull in in Ag subsidies. Then I remembered that the ND media don’t report on that sort of thing.

We need a thorough investigation into this. The republicans in North Dakota have taken corruption to a new level. No man or woman should be above the law….

if we elect this guy, Dalrymple, and he is convicted of bribery, North Dakota will be damaged goods.
We will be at the top of the list of corrupt states, I think we already are, and we will be in the Nation’s focus for all the wrong reasons.
Chicago and New Jersey corruption will be overshadowed by lil’ ‘ol ND. Or WORSE, we could have our own Nixon legacy at the state level!
We can’t afford folks like Dalrymple, Cramer, and Berg. Thank God Hoeven is clean!

Alvin, the little news blurb below is from the Forum. More than the 10 you think there are. Read the links I posted way up at the top of this forum.
WILLISTON, N.D. – Residents of Dunn County want a grand jury to decide if campaign contributions Gov. Jack Dalrymple accepted from the oil industry may be considered bribery.
More than 170 residents signed a petition submitted Wednesday that could force the Dunn County District Court to convene a grand jury and consider whether Dalrymple should be prosecuted under Class C felony bribery statutes.
The petition, which uses a state statute that may not have been used in decades, stems from money Dalrymple’s campaign accepted while he was also serving as the head of the North Dakota Industrial Commission.

I get that, JimBob. I was referring to the 10 people in the Red River Valley and kind of being a bit of a wise guy. Republicans in every office get donations from oil while serving on every kind of board. Democrats do too, except from different interest groups. Democratic leaders initiated this a few days before the election and a handful of Dunn County folks jumped on. You think there’s some thing here. I think it’s typical DFL. You know, North Dakota nice. I’m right.
You’ll see soon enough.

“Dalrymple officials say petition effort ‘politically motivated’”
Duh. That’s what happens when the crime you’re accused of is also motivated by politics; specifically distorting laws and justice to favor the donor.
Do-Nothing Dalrymple should have been tossed out of office for failing to “motivate” the SBHE to clean house at Dickinson U.

It seems that the extreme right-wing is unable to read the law and understand it. Is that why they operate as though they are above the law? Conservativism is a political ideology. I believed “neo-conservatism was a mental illness, but now it appears to be a learning disability! And so it goes…..

There’s no winning with you, carcass. When Dalrymple is exonerated, you’ll say it’s a crooked judge or the GOP manipulating the system. Many of your friends here will give you a thumbs-up, but your name-calling, angry mob mentality makes you irrelevant. The fact that you think only Democrats should get campaign contributions from special interests proves your inability to be objective.
