I grew up in the Lincoln Park neighborhood in a hard-working family. My five siblings and I learned how to have a good time and get things done on a budget. My dad, a laborer at Diamond Tool for 40 years and active in his union, gave me my innate sense of community and activism. My mom was a homemaker who raised us all with a nurturing spirit and sense of stability. Owning and operating Debbie’s Day Care in Morgan Park for
