Uninformed. I don’t find it plausible that someone who has lived in the city for 11 months can complain about how the city hall project happened. This has been in the works since this person was in grade school. Also, clearly he has not done his homework on the taxes. Cottage Grove is not an overtaxed area by a long shot, it is on the lower end of any suburb in the Twin Cities. It would be even lower if there was more commercial development within the city, which is coming. The citizens bear most of the tax burden right now. However, as commercial development of Cottage View occurs, that burden will become more evenly split between business and citizens. If anyone of these people that just spouts off about too much government actually took a look at our fiscal position, they would realize Cottage Grove is in an absolutely fantastic financial position. If you look at your property tax bill – most of it goes to the school district.
