Carl why to you always have to be the first to post on every political thread? It dumbs down the whole thread and we have to work like crazy to build it back up!

when the housing market collapsed … and then the banks … and then, well almost everything, almost every state in the union was in trouble (ok, not ND) … until then MN prospered …. they prospered when Rudy Perpich was governor and when Arnie Carlson was governor (I still like him and would vote for him today if I could!) … this was global … and honestly (Carl I will somewhat agree with you, maybe just a pinch though) under Governor Dayton and the “R” controlled house and senate … all we have done is borrow and push the debt around … no one has dealt with it for a while now … someone is going to have to do it … as my mother said “Don’t make me come up there!”

Swatakzy seems to be concerned about opening lines of communication between parties which is fine but I really don’t know much about her. I do like she was involved in union issues and organization because I believe unions are a strong foundation and the building blocks to a strong employment and representation of our working men and women. Pensions are a stable and great investment towards retirement where evey penny counts when you are living on a fixed income, and the prospect of losing money in public retirement is real and when it happens retirement becomes slim if not impossible.

A majority of the time Carl is misinformed, and the information he gives is not only based purely on political lines but his own perception of how his party seems to always do the right thing. Bring up any failures involving the Bush administration and Carl will claim otherwise. Since Reagan the Republican party has mostly been a failure and sold out the average working American. The trickle down policies of bushwhacker, were a complete and utter disaster, allowing the wealthy to pay less in taxes which was suppose to provide lots of jobs! Funny how this never took place, topped off with eliminating banking regulations which fueled predatory lending, and greed took shape and like a virus spread! The housing market was like a house of cards, that eventually collapsed driving the rest of the economy off a cliff! Bushwhacker and shotgun Cheney became the financial terrorists of our time and candidates like Mittwit, believe the Bush way was the right way, thank goodness he won’t be in the W.H the next 4yrs. The Mittmoney campaign realizes they have all but lost, so they have engaged in a media blitz of unfounded and misleading information blaming even hurricane Sandy on Obama! Mittdummy managed to outrage and upset many auto workers and the company, by claiming they would be sold when in fact there was no truth to it and his campaign knew it. A desperate act by a desperate candidate trying to make some kind of miracle happen in the next 4 days. Also there is a federal investigation going and we may see the results pretty soon here, and if it goes down all I can say is its about time!

Lora … I just logged on … and just read what Jimmy said .. and yes I was going to comment on the name calling … but you logged on and challenged me before I could do it … I DO NOT agree with the name calling … Pres. Bush was still our president … whether you voted for him or not, liked him or not, he was still our president. Pres. Obama is the same … if Mr. Romney becomes president, whether you voted for him or not, like him or not, the name calling is childish … I don’t approve of the nicknames for any of the candidates … we are all adults … right??? I am still on my mantra of proper names … I won’t stop, and I don’t care which political party you are affiliated with. The office of the president deserves respect … from either or any party! *Off my soap box again* (I have bad knees and getting up and down from this dang thing in the past few works is starting to hurt!*

@ Lora … YIKES … someone accused me of being JImmy a while back, I don’t remember who it was, I don’t retain useless info in my brain (ok I do, but not that useless info) … so if Carl is far right, and Jimmy is far left … I’m somewhere in the middle. remember I am fiscally conservative and socially liberal … I remain a woman without a party!

If you don’t like nicknames for the candidate, then don’t read them, I am sick of hearing all the racist overtones concerning Obama, and the disrespect the president has been subjected to since he took office especially on this site. Even now this garbage continues with emails and what you read it in newspapers, Never have any of some self righteous readers and GOP supporters address it. I hate liars, hypocrites, and greed, and Mitt and Ryan are liars, hyoocrites, and support greed!. If nicknames bother you toughen up, and stop whinning! I don’t like when the president is called a monkey, and is name is used in conjuction with Bin Laden! Now I am calling it like it is! Feel free to say what you want but after hearing all the Muslim garbage, and making references to Obama being unAmerican, swearing in on the Koran, not showing his birth certificate, or being soft on terrorism it sickening, Of course now I am asked to show respect? Now all of a sudden some of you start with your self righteous defense of the Republican candidate and you want respect for him. Money don’t buy respect ones deeds and actions buy that! Not once has any Republican official or those who write comments on this site, speak out against the ill comments directed at the President. Sorry if I don’t share your respect for your candidate, so get over it…

Jimmy … I feel UTTER DISDAIN against those people and how they have treated President Obama … UTTER DISDAIN! You are right, for as bad as the democrats were regarding Pres. Bush, the “R” party or teaparticans have been a hundred times worse … I have never seen the presidential office more disparaged … I find in indefensible … however, with that said, I WILL NOT stoop to their level … I will respect this office no matter who is in it … I may not like who is in it, but I will respect it. You don’t have to like it … but somewhere along the line (I’ll go back to 1998) everything was thrown out the window … I know exactly what happened in that year … and we could say horrific things about the president … I have deleted people from my FB page who have suggested that Pres. Obama was a traitor and should be killed … of course I ripped them a good one before I deleted them … we are suppose to be a ‘civilized’ country … we are anything but civilized … we suggest we are a ‘Christian’ country … yet the vitriol that comes out of people’s mouths who claim to be Christian is anything but Christian … if you are a ‘Christian’ and wish death upon someone else … you are NOT a ‘Christian’ … and if you still profess to be a good ‘Christian’ then quite apparently I need to change faiths ….

Jimmy and Jesse I too have been disappointed in the manner in which our President has been disrespected, and the victim of the Republican party’s refusal to work with the President. I believe had Republicans worled with Obama this country would have been in even better shape. However the president has managed to get the assembly lines going, bailed out GM, ended the war in Iraq and sent our troops back home to their family and love ones.
The President dealt with our enemies, gave us a healthcare plan, and finally managed to get the unemployment rate under 8%. While we are not quite there yet and have more work to do, we must continue to move ahead. I have to say I am truly ashamed of some Americans who portrayed the president to be less then an American citizen but through all the controversy and bigotry the President continues to rise above it. Jimmy I hear you frustration and you have are right, I have yet to see some of our Republican leaders speak out against the bigotry displayed by some that seems to be a part of the problem in this country.
1. Here are my reasons for not supporting or voting for Romney or Ryan. They both flip flop, and Romney has made a campaign of it. As a Vet I don’t appreciate the fact he used 4 deferments to get out of being drafted while he went to France on so called Missionary work. I don’t like the fact Mitt never addressed Veterans at the Republican Convention then when asked why he left Veterans out Romney stated he didn’t feel it was important.
2. In 1991 Romney went to the Federal government for Bailout money for Bain. Romney and Ryans speech about looking to the government for help is not the answer sure contradicts what they are saying and the message they sent out.
3. Ryan who was against the Presidents stimulus and voted against it, and even spoke out against it, didn’t stop him from asking the President on four different occasions for stimulus money for his state even going as far as praising the President for this bill that created jobs and bailed out some small businesses.
4. I was in shock that Mitt Romney could boldly and without as much as a second thought tell a blatant lie about one of our American auto makers selling out to China.
Now if you did your research or remember Romney and Bain disected a good deal of American companies at times outsourcing American jobs to China where slave labor made additonal millions for Bain. To top that off Bain helped to pass out golden parachutes to the top honchos while average Americans ended up on the unemployement line. Mitt and others in the company were also given stock options that were invested in off shore accounts where the IRS had no claim to them. Mitt Romney has failed to fully disclose all his returns and some of the returns he provided appear to have been altered to show tax deductions that didn’t make sense to some tax experts who reviewed them.
I just can’t trust a guy who know claimed Obama was doing good things after pretty much calling the presidents policies a failure. Many experts will tell you despite the pitfalls and the mess this economy was in before Obama became president we are better off now then 4yrs ago.
Jimmy I think I just out did you on the longest comment, and Jesse I merely pointed out what I believe are key reasons why we can trust Romney or Ryan to manage this country!

YES BOB, I APPROVE THIS MESSAGE! Of course I wouldn’t have been as kind as joer was, then of course you know that already bob. However I won’t personally insult Mitts family, his culture or his religion. Funny I don’t see any liberals going on any personal attacks. Yes I am a hard left person fedup with hardright unAmerican attacks on our president.

I met Sawatzky as she was going door to door trying to campaign against gridlock. Her goal was to reach across party lines to end the stalemates that end up costing the people of this state because no one wins when both parties cannot reach an agreement or an alternative. This is the problem with some politicians they seem to forget they work for the people who help to put them in office. Sometimes a fresh face is good to see in the world of politics were some politicans get complacent and feel entitlement and power. We have all seen the last four years where Republicans have made it a point not to work with the President which hurt the people. This needs to stop.

Joe, I guess we have to agree regarding your comment of people not wanting to work across party lines.
I know of a person by the name of Senator Harry Reid, A Democrat, who has 30 plus bills sent to him by the House, who has refused to take any one of them up for discussion or for up or down votes. Many are job bills but most important several are budget bills. In, fact, Senator Reid has only brought one budget bill forth( the President’s budget bill) which did not receive one vote from the Democrats. In fact, there have been no budgets even proposed or submitted by the Senate.
Where is your voice on the lack of civility and cooperation by Senator Reid or should I say not work for the people?
I agree there has to be more hands across the table agreements but you seem to want me to come around to your side of the table all the time. Give a little and maybe we can come to an amiable agreement that benefits the American people, not just some special interests. JMHO.
By the way, again, glad to see you back.

I seem to recall the Democrats willing to give up some of their agenda if the Republicans would put tax increases on the table – letting the Bush tax cuts expire for the top 1%. Also, Obama sign into law an attachment that relaxes gun controls on Federal parks. The Democrats would compromise more if the ‘right’ would stop including extreme social & anti-women ammendments to bills.

When was it … 2010 or 2011 when Boehner … oh I just have to say this … with his ‘big old grin’ smiled at the American people and said ‘We got 90% of what we wanted’ when talking about forcing the President to ‘compromise’ … hmmmm so if the Republicans got 90% and the Democrats got 10% … I guess I can see how that is evenly split.

jessie, did you also see the grin and hear the words from Senator Harry Reid – “No way, no how, will that be brought up or talked about in the Senate”?
Senator Harry made it 100% Democrat. ;<)
