Douglas County is now in two Minnesota Senate districts because of redistricting Districts 8 and 12. Here’s who we support. Continue Reading

This editorial ignores the realities of current politics. Both of these candidates have made their bones running on social issues agendas and accomplishing fairly little for their districts–Ingebritsen gets better marks despite his shorter time in office. Having editorials talking about keeping LGA and voting for officials who continue to hammer it in budgets is non-sensical.
How will having two highly partisan GOP’ers in the MN Senate allow any work to get done with Gov. Dayton? They’ve both been responsible for gimmick budgets and the failure of the legislature to have a balanced budget without shifts in 6 years for Ingebritsen and around a dozen for Westrom.
What has Rep. Westrom accomplished in 16 years (a career) to merit reaching 20 years as a member of the MN Legislature? As a lawyer, he has to know that his proposal to allow opt-outs of mandated services will only work until the first lawsuit but he advocates for it anyway.

I love both of these men! Westrom and Ingebrigtsen both voted in favor of a new Minnesota Vikings stadium this year! As a result, both deserve to be elected to serve. They both did what was right for the State of Minnesota and for the Minnesota Vikings by making the stadium deal happen. We should be very, very grateful to both for their efforts. We need more stadium legislators in Minnesota. Incidentally, Franson voted in opposition to the new stadium. Let’s support these two men as they have supported us by bringing a new Vikings stadium to fruition!
