johnb, how do you presume a prisoner would be able to vote? By somehow getting a ballot mailed to him in prison?
Hot debate. What do you think?

Former prisioners did as reported by the voting data in Hennepin and Ramsey Counties. Felons are not permitted to vote under Minnesota’s constitution! Convictions are impossible without an ID because they can claim someone fradulently voted using their names. Vote YES for insuring your vote counts by preventing illegal voters!

if I give you a blank contract and say ‘trust me I’ll fill in the details later, don’t worry’ … would you trust me?? I bet you wouldn’t … if this had specifics to it, perhaps maybe … as a blank piece of nothingness I say no way!

I voted Tuesday and they scanned my licience into the system. The lady next to me did not have a licience but did produce a document showing where she lives. I do not know if it was a utility bill or an appartment rental contract. She than signed a sworn statement stating she is legal to vote in the area. Big deal but it prevents multiple voting and illegal voting by threat of prison. Minnesota is famous where I live with union members staying with friends and voting accross state lines just to sway a close election. I do not believe Senator Franken would have been elected if not for the dishonesty of partisan Democrat poll watchers. 600 votes sitting in the trunk of a poll watcher’s car should make you just as mad as it make moi if you care about fair voting practices??? Those trunk votes were counted but were they real voters or the Democrat machine?

I personally don’t want my license scanned into the system … you realize they sell that information right? Neither do I want my DNA on file. Have I ever committed a crime?? NO, I haven’t but I still don’t want my DNA on file. If a police officer asks to search my car I will politely decline. Do I have something to hide?? NO, but I still have rights. If you are a new voter you do indeed need to show that you can vote in that district. Yes a utility bill or something with your name and address on it signifies that. That is what your comment means. In regards to Franken … yes, I admit I was stumped. But states to check on people voting twice. I know they did with my daughter when she was registered to vote in both MN and SD (she was a student at the time) and chose to vote in SD. In regards to Senator Franken, I was very skeptical about him, and I admit I didn’t vote for him because I was so skeptical. However, with that said, I think he has done a fine job representing our state and he has been a STRONG ADVOCATE for veterans. I would presume you would think that is a great thing, I certainly do. The problem with the current amendment to the constitution is that it has no guts to it. As I mentioned earlier, it’s like me handing you a blank contract, asking you to sign it, and trusting me to fill it out. So if this amendment is approved and the Democrats regain control of the MN Congress and they then get to ‘fill in the details’ what will you and everyone else think??? Will you trust them to get it right? Or will you only trust the other party?? That is probably the most interesting question of all! Honestly, I don’t trust either party … show me ALL of the language, let me make an informed decision and then let me vote. The blank contract doesn’t work for me, and it shouldn’t work for anyone else. Now I am curious what peoples thoughts are if the Democrats get to make up the rules?!

. If you get to read my post, realize I want every legitimate voter to have their vote counted and counted fairly. Government workers believe they need several thousand ILLEGAL votes to keep their big government friendly Democrats in power. They suppress our comments here just like they destroy your vote in the election booth. Vote YES and do not allow the special interests to dilute your VOTE! That is what this is about!!!

ACORN formerly subsidized by we taxpayers registed hundred of thousands of voters, somedead and some who did not know they registered. For those that did not register themselves and had no plans to vote Democrat operatives voted on their behaf. Vote YES if you want fair elections!!!!!!!

wow Bob because I agree with someone that makes me someone … is it just so because you say it is?? what was the firm that the Tea Particans hired this year … Strategic Allied Consulting, was that it?? who were fired for their ‘work’??? I fired off a long rant last night and I’m glad it was deleted … I don’t want to ‘scoop to your level’. I am a more mature then that and regretted my words after I hit submit … I guess I had too many ‘strong words’ in my reply to you. But alas I am just a single individual posting on these forums … you may have multiple accounts, I do not … I work full time+ I don’t have time, perhaps you have time because you don’t work? That just isn’t my problem I suppose. So accuse all you want I will just not fall in the Tea Particans venomous behavior.

One of your central points about voter IDS at the polling booth was that your information will be sold. With a straight face I will tell you if voter registration is sold, it probably already has been sold, especially in your case by your unwanted soliticians from SD!

Shall we have retinal scans next … perhaps DNA to prove who we are … to destroy voting rights of lots of people for an unbroken system is just wrong. I admire Gov. Carlson for speaking out … I really like him … I greatly admire the Rep. soldier speaking out against the other proposed amendment … in this country it is always harder to say no then to go with the status quo … to hurt thousands for the sake of a handful to suppress our constitutional right to vote is wrong!

Jessie you are a little emotional with your retinal scan idea. How about the same proof you submit with your personal check at most stores. I do not believe that is too much to expect to maintain election fairness! A vote YES is a vote for election fairness.

Lets look at the case for requiring voter identification.
1, In 2008, 1,099 felons voted, 200 have been convicted.
2. In 2008, 25 precints had more votes than registered voters.
3. In 2008 and 2010 7,200 voter registration cards were returned to election officials because the name or address could not be verified.
I personally have heard of ND residents voting in MN in your closest elections probably helping Senator Frankin who your government unions love. Just for the record, military ID is a government issued ID and totally fullfills the requirement of this amendment. So do not be deceived by the group making up lies and vote YES. We use driver liciences and military ID in ND and it works well!

john … the last time I checked (and it was recently) .. the constitution does not give you the right to write a check … it does give you the RIGHT to vote … this is a guaranteed right … and alas … small town MN … not sure I have ever been asked to show ID when writing a check …
