I am very happy that the city council listened to the Conservation and Efficiency Coordinator Mike Noreen presentation last Tuesday. I am in favor of energy-conservation and education. I believe that incentives are not necessay and may be very expensive and if energy conservation makes economic sense people will accept the cause. We do it all the time in our everyday lives.
I don’t know how Powerful Choices is funded BUT I did notice on my last utilites bill that it identified a <1% tax that I must pay. The $110,000 item in the city budget for 2013 either comes from my 2.3% tax increase or from my utility bill BUT I prefer to make that choice to donate to "the green cause" and I don't think that our city fathers should make that decision for me.
Please don't increae our taxes so that failed and expensive energy programs can continue. See how the programs in Europe are working and make your own decision. If your council member doesn't understand how the real world works, contact him and let him know,
