Poll shows easy victory for Dalrymple
October 24, 2012 at 7:01 pm in Grand Forks Herald
Incumbent Jack Dalrymple leads challenger Ryan Taylor by more than 30 points in Forum Communications poll. Dalrymple’s appeal appears to be strongest in Burleigh, Stark and Williams counties and weakest in Grand Forks County. Continue Reading

So a drugstore cowboy would be a better solution?

The wealthy tend to promote legislation that suits them not the working class.

Oh I see….so since wealthy people own businesses and run companies the laws in this country should favor them. I see how your mind works. And your question is as worn out as the term Faux News. Both make me weary.

If Taylor would have gotten rid of the cowboy hat image it would have helped (a little).

The “drug store cowboy” happens to be a REAL “cowboy”/rancher. That said, I do agree about the look. Nobody wants to see a potential governor looking like Festus, from Gunsmoke.

Yeah. I want to like Taylor. I really do. But I just can’t take a guy in a cowboy hat seriously. I’m at a loss, as I really cannot tolerate “Do Nothing Dalrymple” as said above.

I lived out in the western part of the state and out there cowboy hats really are about as common as baseball hats…You notice them at first, but after a few weeks you just don’t anymore. The eastern part of the state they really stick out though.
I think Taylors biggest problem was he’s basically an unknown…Especially in the east. A 30 point gap really speaks to that.

A far bigger problem for Taylor (besides his cowboy hat) is he has done absolutely no campaigning. I can’t recall watching one advertisement or even seeing his name on a billboard or sign. I would be willing to bet this article is the first time many people even knew who the other candidate was for governor.

What’s with the drug store cowboy crapola? This guy grew up ranching and farming north of Towner. There isn’t any drugstore about that. The cowboy hat doesn’t symbolize “poor”. It symbolizes an honest day’s work. A man who isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty. A true American symbol. some of you need some lesson in history.
Dalrymple- private school in Minneapolis, Ivy League College. Ranks 4th in the state for receiving federal farm subsidies. Who’s the liberal??
I need someone who can represent my needs as a college student, a spouse, a middle class living. Dalrymple doesn’t even know what a college loan is, what it is like to make payments on a house. Why would you vote for someone who has never been in 90% of our shoes?
If Dalrymple wants to be a millionaire. So be it. I have no issues with it, but I don’t want him representing me and my family.

Well he is less likely to end up with skin cancer on his nose. His ears…well that’s a different story. But if you have older relatives that spent time outdoors you would know what I mean.

Ryan actually grew up south of Towner. His home was near Bald Butte.

“A true American symbol. some of you need some lesson in history.”
A true American symbol…of the 19th century! “History”, is correct. In the 21st century, it amounts to a COSTUME. Reality is this: this state is buku RICH right now. North Dakota is the economic ENVY of the entire COUNTRY. Who is gonna unseat the current governor? Short of him getting caught (in a compromising position) with a young boy…it aint gonna happen…no matter WHO the opponent is! Factor in that anyone who isnt a repub is looked upon as a ‘demon’ in this state…and there you have it. Hardly rocket science. NOBODY had a chance, let alone Festus.

Dalrymple is in some deep do do. Ethical do do which I know is very important to my republican friends. Keep abreast as this has the makings of a real barn burner.

Governor D failed to show leadership of any kind during the FS debacle. He played duck & cover. For that reason alone I did not vote for him.
If he is incapable of showing leadership during an emotionally charged but largely inconsequential episode in the state’s history; how is he going to act when his feet are really in the fire?
