Mining companies bid to explore under NE Minnesota land

“The companies pay a small fee to the state for exclusive exploration rights and then, if any minerals are mined, the state gets big royalties.” — MISSING IN THIS>…is the landowner’s rights to payment…..do they get nothing for the disruption of their land? The noise, mess, and possible environmental concerns just don’t matter ?

It not true to state these leases are for exploration. These leases are to “explore for, mine and remove metallic minerals”.
