I find it amazing that they are comparing the computer blitz in the 90′s to the current bonanza of oil production. The biggest difference in the two is that all the “production” of the computers was done outside this country. Very few real jobs were created as we were making money off each other selling the foreign made products to ourselves.
The oil patch money is going right here where it belongs, to the people of this great innovative country. Did the Chinese actually design the computers? No, good old American ingenuity did but we didn’t make them…..outsourcing was the deal of the day.
Today, the oil money stays right here where it belongs and the sooner we get away from “foreign” oil (Canada not included), the sooner our economic future brightens. 1.3 million oil related jobs transfers into five or six times that many jobs from the service related industry catering to those 1.3 million and think of the money that gets spent right here in the US creating more jobs.
It doesn’t matter if Romney and Ryan do anything at all after getting elected. The mere fact that the “perception” of the people that things are going to turn around will in fact make it so. Nothing in this country drives success like the perception of success. All Romney and Ryan have to do is get out of the way and let American entrepreneurship do its thing. Bill Clinton realized that after the ’96 election and he got credit for doing “nothing” which was the right thing to do….don’t impede American ingenuity!!
