While I never have agreed with any of you’ve posted on this forum Mr. Handy, I have seen some thought out and considerate comments. This is not one of them. Your entire comment reeks of not only your religious intolerance but you intolerance of anyone different than you at all. Just because you appear to believe that the biblical apocalypse is upon us (which millions of christians have waited in vain for for the last two thousand years I might add) does not make it reality. If your intolerant, bigoted and hateful worldview is the result of a successful interpretation of your bible, I am even happier to be an atheist.
As for your claims about the President, prove it. President Obama has repeatedly said he is a christian. Who are you to judge? That is for Mr. Obama and god to sort out if god did exist. Does not your own bible advise you to Judge not lest ye be judged? In your lust to brand Obama as a liar you have obviously been blinded to the fact that Romney has repeatedly made false claims on the campaign trail as confirmed by numerous fact checkers. Not to mention all the flip-flopping Romney has done on dozens of issues. It’s obvious he will say anything to get elected.
I also find your proclamation of Mrs. McLaughlin’s congregation as a cult quite fascinating. Judging by your last sentence of your comment you are about to vote for a bishop in the biggest cult in America. The mormon church was founded by a charlatan who made a living using seer stones to find treasure and who made claims of divine discs that only he could read with his magic spectacles. They wrote their own bible and hold wildly different beliefs from typical christianity, such as the garden of eden being in America and god living on an alien planet called Kolob. I believe the antichrist is described as a charismatic leader and prophet of a false religion who sounds a lot like Romney. Perhaps you should reconsider your end times conspiracy theories. Considering all that it’s amazing that to you the UCC church is the cult because of it’s message of inclusiveness and god’s love for everyone. From what I know of the humble congregation that is the Anew United Church of Christ that exists here in Mitchell they are far more in line with the teachings of the legend known as Jesus than the majority of the churches I have seen today.

Let me address the writers of the letter with the words of FDR

We will do all of them- we will do more of them we will do them better; and, most important of all, the doing of them will not cost anybody anything.”
THAT is the message you are going to vote for. FDR said that to the republicans 80 yrs. ago and it still is true.
Obama has submitted a budget every year, he believes in the right of choice, there are no “death panels”, does not abuse executive orders, has done nothing to catholics and is strong on defense.
There is a difference in following someone that actually leads as to following someone who will tell you anything you want to hear and act in their own self interest.
