From a transportation angle, this road probably makes perfect sense. But deep down, I agree with the person who said “do we really need to get people to the mall 30 seconds faster?” It makes me wonder where all the self-described fiscal conservatives are on this forum. Over $5 million in tax dollars are at stake here! But apparently that doesn’t matter this time.
In all, I’m not seeing any long-term planning by our planners and engineers. To me this is like another highway 53 expansion. All that’s being considered is how to get people to the mall faster. In essence, they are spending tax dollars to help support the businesses that have effectively eroded our tax base by killing US manufacturing. This road will be paid in China to help people to buy “Made in China”.

I don’t agree at all. This is not about getting to the mall 30 seconds faster – this is about a road that has been planned well before most the homes impacted were ever even built – Anyone who buys a property should be looking at the space around them to see how future development might impact that home. Especially something that has been on the books that long. So a handful of homes are stopping the road meanwhile people who bought homes on streets not designed for heavy cutthrough traffic are being greatly affected. People are going to cut through this neighborhood with or without a joshua extension – and they are doing that now in high numbers and putting the safety of the neighborhood in jeopardy. I thought I heard that there was a change to the plan that would slightly alter the route of the planned Joshua to better buffer the homes and neighborhood from the traffic and potential property value issue? What happened to that change? I thought I heard the most impacted neighbors had supported that change.
