Virg, a died-in-the-wool hockey fan, could have written about the #1 gopher hockey team, maybe highlight a local boy doing well. Instead, he switches to something he cares nothing about to emphasize an embarrassing time for Minnesota’s #1 university. His sophomoric “salt-in-the- wound” approach was tiresome 20 years ago. Why not try attract local Minnesota readers rather than alienate? I thought he retired. Retire, Man!!!

With a couple of exceptions the Big Ten abandoned football decades ago. Minnesota hasn’t had a real team since Murray Warmath. Must have been a slow day for Virg to dredge this topic up.

Even so, look how disliked my first comment is. I might be wrong. There may be very few Minnesota readers insulted by Virg’s work. I thought he was biting the hand that feeds him, but this truly might be a North Dakota paper only.
