Lest we forget why NWA closed the base in 2005. Duluth workers joined striking NWA employees at Minneapolis-St Paul and seeing a no-win situation, NWA shut down their facilities and outsourced the work. Duluth and Minnesota taxpayers were left holding the bag on a tax subsidized enterprise that was no longer viable and the Duluth job market was flooded with unemployed, Duluth’s reputation was stained by more bad PR, and the local economy sufferred.
